Hi guys. Just wondering if anybody knows of any connection between anxiety and lymph nodes/swollen glands or minor pains in your lymph nodes. I sometimes get the pains in my underarm or groin or neck, and it always seems to be near my glands. Then I get nervous thinking that I have cancer or HIV or something. Sometimes I feel like they are swollen, but I don;t think they are, I am just imagining it.

Your glands will swell sometimes with small infection or stress it is a common A/P thing I believe ...My glands in throat are always doing this and I had one doc tell me it was my tonsils......FUNNY ...I had them out at 3 yrs of age but okay ...lol........A/P gives us so much to look for but I do not really believe we are hypo's I believe it is the A/P .....Hope all has a great "underarm" day........be well and use a good deodorant ......Des I will find you in the deodorant dept right ROFLMAO......God Bless....Lyn

Hi there.

We have lymph nodes in our armpits. Sometimes they can swell as part of PMS and you might feel it then.

Make sure you are up to date on your mammograms.

Do mention it to your doctor at your next visit.

hi there...quick question...for those of you experiencing armpit pain, is it located in just one armpit, because this is my situation and I'm also menstrual, so I'm just wondering if you are experiencing this in an isolated place..Thanks!

wow, an old thread comin to life, funny thing is i also been having the armpit pain im scared its a node but no real swelling in armpits i dunno mine is a weird pain and soreness i do have mono though not sure what is causing this, i think alot of new viruses are goin around but i dunno, hope all is well

I still get pain under my arms before my period sometimes. How timely for this thread to be resurected. I was having bad underarm pain again this month, but it went away after my period. It's usually more prevelant on one side for me, but both sides hurt.

 Hi everyone,

I did a google search on some syptoms I have been having and I found this site.  I have been having underarm pain and tenderness for about 6 months or so.. It was mainly in one arm and sometimes my arm would feel tingly. My doctor did blood work and ordered some nerve tests. I think they were call EMG or something like that...everything came back normal. He recommend me to a neurologist and I had a mammogram and 3 MRI's and a chest xray. She says everything looks normal...I am only 25 and consider myself healthy...Now the underarm pain is in both arms but it comes and goes. She wanted to put me on Cymbalta which is an antideppressant that has been approved for nerve pain...she decided not to since the pain isn't constant. I was relieved because I have heard alot of bad stuff about this drug...This week I have started having lots of chest pain all over...I am nervous and I think that makes it worse..
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Does anyone have any suggestions...

i have anxiety too, mostly regarding health issues. I too have underarm apin. it feels muscular but has been going on for over 8 days now. I am obsessing and worrying about it. it is only in my right armpit/underarm. It seems to hurt only when my arm is close against my side, or if i reach up. i know anxiety can excaerbate any symptom. Has anyone else ever felt what i am describing? If so how long did it last? thank you

tHank you! I actually woke up this morning-and my armpit feels at least 90% better. It is the first morning to wake up and have some improvement. Although the anxiety is still there-i am terribly relieved.

someone's story about the broken armpit made me think of something I did about 3 weeks ago. I decidedmy tongue was too big for my mouth, and I walked around sticking my tongue out and telling people who asked me what I was doing that it was to big for my mouth. Again, it's a miracle I haven't been sent away by now.

Start thiking about your tongue, and I guarantee that in five minutes you'll be thinking your tongue doesn't fit in your mouth too. yeah

THE ARMPIT PAIN IS BACK AGAIN,NOT SURE WHY...HOPEFULLY IT IS JUST THIS TENSION. I HATE WORRYING about IT, BUT I AM TOO SCARED TO SEE THE DOC. HOPEFULY IT WILL GO AWAY SOON. THE PAIN IS ONLY IN MY RIGHT ARMPIT, AND ONLY WHEN I MOVE MY ARM IN CERTAIN WAYS. ALSO IF MY ARM IS SQUEEZED AGAINST MY SIDE. IF YOU RELATE TO THE SAME SYMPTOM, PLEASE REPLY, THANKS

cat lover - do you ever catch yourself with your shoulders hunched up and your elbows pulled in close to your body? that is TOTALLY muscle tension caused by anxiety - i used to get it constantly (well actually still do just not as bad).... in my opinion thats whats responsible for underarm pain! :)

THanks so much for your reply-I dont know if i necessarily tense my body up that way-but it is possible that i am not aware. I really appreciate you sharing that info with me, because it is a reasonable, and probable cause for my pain. did your armpit hurt when you moved your arm? was it only one arm as well? did it come and go? how long did it last?-Athina

My health anxiety was much better today, for whatever reason. It is such a weird thing to me, the way the anxiety becomes all-consuming. You cant focus on anything but your symptoms, and you really create quite a terrifying nightmare for yourself. And at the time, it feels like life doesnt exist outside of that nightmare. And even though we know, that our most troublesome worries seem to ALWAYS end up being nothing, its as if we forget that with each new health anxiety that presents itself. For some reason we think, "this time its for real, this time i know im doomed" for some reason, each time it feels different, but then like all of the other times, it goes away, and ends up being absolutely nothing!. Im baffled. I have to say though, usually there are difficult things going on in my life when my health anxiety is at its worse, but i dont know if its always been the case. For example, Ive been in the process of dealing with the termination of a relationship, but it seems now that i really have closure, the anxiety seems much better. Im not sure if its mere coincidence, but you'd think there has to be something to trigger it. My friend made a good point. When one is all-consumed with an illness/disease, how much time does one have to think about the other things going on in their life. The REAL things, the REAL stressors. It makes sense to me, but its such an unconscious thing, we dont realize it. I think this is all very interesting, but when i am in the midst of it, it is altogether incapacitating.thanks for letting me share.

I'm glad to hear that today was better for you. I notice that my anxiety isn't always "triggered". There are times when I know I'm nervous about something, but other times that it seems like my mind works without me. It's a bit surreal. I often use the example of waiting in line. I hate to do that. I know it's going to cause me some anxiety. Other times, I could be watching TV and I start to get a PA seemingly for no reason. Those are the ones I hate because (as you said) it makes you think, "This isn't an ordinary PA, I must be having a heart attack." It's awful. You are not alone.

I have had panic attacks come out of nowhere too- The health anxiety is a bit different, i think. Panic attack would happen even when things seemed to be just fine- it would freak me out, because i couldnt understand why i was getting them, and it made me think that there had to be something wrong with me. When I have health anxiety, i can usually connect it to something stressful that may be going on. thanks for your reply!

 Hi, I'm 29 yrs old, and I have been having underarm pain. It started in the outer right side of my right breast, moved up to the top part above my breast, as well as my right armpit. That's where the pain has persisted for the last 2 weeks. Some days it's a constant dull pain. No throbbing, never sharp, just a dull pain. But for the last few days it's been on and off, not constant. The pain was localized but this evening it has now added the left armpit. Same pain. Seen two doctors, one said tendenitis, the other collected bloodwork and sent me to an ultrasound. Bloodwork came back fine. Yet to receive results of the ultrasound. Could it be an infection? Would infection go from one armpit to another? There is numbness in the area of the armpit that feels the pain. No round ball or anything. But there is swelling. Not sure of what is going on. Looking for someone with similar symptoms, or with some direction of just what may be going on in there. Do not have anxiety or have any paranoia as to what is going on. Just very concerned as to what it may be. If anyone could give me some direction, I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Yes you could very well be experiencing symptoms os A/P in my opinion
But I would suggest that you see the doc again and have more tests done on thyroid and glandular testing
This will rule out any problems that might be there of rule out any specific medical problem and then it would IMO definitely be the A/P
Just a thought

Thank you very much for getting back to me soo quickly. Most appreciated. One of the blood tests were to test thyroid and it came back "ok", as per doctor. I will definately inquire about glandular testing, thank you. Also, what does "A/P" and "IMO" stand for?

A/P stands for Anxiety/Panic and IMO stands for In My Opinion.
