Anti-anxiety medication that doesn't make you drowsy or dizzy?

Hi,

I have tried Ativan for anxiety at night or in the daytime but it makes me dizzy or drowsy for about 24 hours after I take it, and that is not good at all for driving. I have also tried Xanax, which just makes me fall asleep so I cannot take that during the day. Are there any other anti-anxiety medications that you suggest I ask my doc about that haven't made you too drowsy or dizzy?

Love the name...Welcome to HW you will find great support here and before you know it you will be calling all of us your friends. My dr has me on Fluoxetine 20 mg once in the mornings and Oxazepam 15 mg 3 X a day for my anxiety,depression and fibro. Now it does take all of these meds time to get into your system. I know at first all I did was want to sleep but I have gotton past that now due to them adjusting my meds and them getting into my system. Good luck on this road you are traveling and remember your not on it alone.

Have you tried a smaller dose of the meds you were on? I am on Xanax but take a half tablet during the day if I need it. I usually only take the whole one if I am home with no where to go. I hope you are feeling better soon.

get a pillcutter from a pharmacy and take small pieces of the tablets until you get used to them

the early sedation level varies much between people, but you will eventually get used to it and be able to up the dose

some psychs dont know about this and look stupid when their patient is rolling around with slurred speech and appearing drunk on the first day of his new mads
