Oh my gosh, I was in the store shopping and doing ok, then I was in line at the cashier and I just started feeling that inside shaky trembly kinda thing and it scares me, thats really the only symptom I had, I didnt go into panic mode  but I was going to go to walmart and just came home cause I was scared, I dont think that breathing techniques make that go away? any suggesstions anyone? cause it really scares me!!!

Well it's good you only had one symptom rather than a bunch at once to make you go into full panic mode.

I typically try to distract myself when I'm feeling anxious in a store when I have only one or two symptoms. I'll grab a magazine and flip through it or grab my cell phone and look through it or sometimes I just try to make small talk with the cashier while I'm panicky.

I tried the breathing techniques... it's hard to concentrate on it and actually get the symptoms to go away. Distracting yourself or thinking "I can get through this, I'm almost out the door" always helps too.

Weekends are slower angela and alot of times peeps are away or with their families I am on at 4 every morning lol
I am also a A/P sufferer and have other illnesses that sometimes I need to rest for
I am sorry if you are finding it is taking long for your questions to be answered
Moderators are all volunteers and are also with their own health problems ......so sometimes you will have to wait a few but hopefully not long
When I find myself in that situation I will take my ativan ( lorazapam) which is the kind that is for under the tongue ( sublingual) if the breathing techniques dont work but usually they do
You are on this med right maybe take it before going to a store and see if that helps you out

I don't know if this will help you, but it helps me. My therapist recommended that when I start to feel that shaky trembling feeling, I should walk really fast or do some sort of excersize, that uses those muscles. Like if my legs are shaky I should walk or lightly jog or something along those lines, and if my arms are that way to try moving them in some sort of excersize. I hope that helps

ditto on the exercising. Walking takes my mind off of it and it seems to go away.

Hey Angela,

Although that symptom of having the shakes and trembling is starting to go away I know how you feel and it's very uncomfortable. It felt like my body was getting shots of adrenline over and over. When that happened I would try to distant myself or do something like go for a run or walk and that seemed to help calm my nerves down.

Hi Angela,  I get those feeling in large stores also, especially Walmart.  I do exactly what Twiggy does and can get thru the normal weekly shopping.  If I'm having a rough time with anxiety/panic I wait until my husband can go with me, having him as my crutch can usually get me thru even the worse shakes.

I too have used my hubby for getiing me thru many a time when really bad ( has the nila scars to prove it ) and it does help but sooner or later we must start taking baby steps as we do need to fight this DD as well and do to it what is so greatly does to us all

I had a similar Walmart experience, I got there, got inside, started to feel like I was whirling and going to pass out at any second, but I do the cell phone thing too, like look thru my pictures (I'm not promoting this in any way, but I have a really hard time driving so I often look at a photo or two on my cell phone to calm me down) or text messages, and try to distract myself. That helps.

A while back, I posted some good stress relieving exercises. They really work. I'll burn you a copy on it and send it to you or I'll try and download it to my somputer and email it to you if you want. There are about 6 or 7 things on it. I love the Autogenics and the Power Nap. They work for me. They don't take everything away, but they calm me down so I can see more clearly. Email me and let me know if you want them. I just have to figure out how to do the computer stuff. Computers are NOT my friend! LOL!
