I've been searching the internet for weeks trying to find an answer. This web site is the closest thing I've found.
I have a 15 yr old son. He's always eaten breakfast in the morning and about a year ago he said he couldn't stomach breakfast anymore. After a few months that changed to nausea in the morning and occassionally he said he would vomit in the morning.
Then summer came and he slept in until about 11am to noon everyday and he would feel fine. Sometime he would wake up early because the dogs would bark and he would have the nauseas feeling. If I took the day off work and we would wake up early to go do something fun, he would be nauseas until around midday.
Then school started and it got much worse. He's had serious nausea and dry heaving to the point of vomiting blood once because he was retching so violently. I've taken him to a gastroenterologist and so far all his blood work has come up negative, he is not lactose intolerant, his endoscopy was normal (including biopsies).
Next he's scheduled for an ultrasound on his kidney's and gall bladder.
He does have proteinuria and is taking lisinopril for this but no signs of kidney disease. He's stopped the lisinopril until we can get this under control. He's missed a lot of time at school but it's all been excused because he's seeing doctors.
Of course we've considered anxiety but would he have anxiety even on days he was getting up early to do something fun he loves to do????
He's incredibly bright with a superior IQ but he is dyslexic. He's had 3 years of the Wilson Reading program and it's made incredible improvements in his reading ability. He still spells horribly but it doesn't really matter. His IOWA test rate him at college level even though he was only in 8th grade when he was tested. He's incredibly bright, sensible and mature for his age but very quiet and restrained.
He's in honors and advanced classes by his choice and he plans to go onto college. He had all his classes planned out for high school. He's a really great kid! But I'm sick from the misery he's experiencing about every morning.
He's been on Prevacid for a couple of weeks and it helps a little bit but not much. It makes the difference between retching uncontrollably and major nausea.
Any help anyone can give me would be appreciated.
