When Enough is Enough...Side Effects :(

So I just had my boss come into my office and give me this strange look....I knew what he was thinking, but I couldn't help it....I know that one of the side effects from this Generic Paxil is the gas it gives me.  It's embarrassing and I'm about ready to go to the doctor and ask to be put on something else.  This along with an increase in my appetite (I could eat all the time, and that's new for me, and I'm having getting to sleep at night.  He prescribed me 1/2 mg of Ativan to help with that.  Anyone else experience these side effects?  I'm trying to decide as I put in my subject line, when enough is enough.

I've been on the generic paxil since it became available. I always worry that it doesnt work as well as the "real" thing! Then there's the fact that more than 1 company makes the generics. My last refill, the shape of the pill changed and when I asked the pharmasist about it he said they got it from a different company. I too have had alot of gas since, but just attributed it to the usual intestinal upsets my anxiety causes. Now I wonder? Do you have a prescription plan? Most plans will cover (at a higher co-pay) nongeneric drugs when determined by a doctor that the generics did not work.

Thanks for replying Howlyn and Karen....In regards to your question, Karen, no...I do not have a prescription plan....Besides being on this generic I mail ordered my prescription to this place down south (RX Outreach)...Seemed legitimate, but now I'm starting to wonder if they are or not.  The pills look the same as my friends generic paxil, but I wonder if they are outdated or something.  I paid $30 for 90 days, where at my local Walgreens I would pay $30 for two weeks...Quite a difference, but I don't know if I'm paying for it or what.  I'm really confused right now, and it doesn't help the anxiety level at all. I'm so discouraged :(

I agree with Lyn - I'd stay away from on-line meds. There are mail in companies that are legit (E-scripts for one) that are cheaper than pharmacies. After reading your post and some others, I posted last night for input on if SSRIs can stop working - some very interesting replies! I'm considering having my doc require no generic and seeing if there is a difference.
