Ok, so, im the one with the health anxiety... Today, I read a post on here about someone who had kidney cancer. After reading that, I spent 2 hours on the internet, looking up kidney and bladder cancers.... I know, I know, researching health problems on the internet is a "No-no" for someone like me.... So, I called my dr. And made an appointment for tomorrow, because I now am afaid of kidney and bladder cancers. I think im going to try and talk her into an mri or ct scan or something. You know what, I think I know deep down, that im fine... Why am I doing this? Everytime I hear about someone having a disease or health issue, I freak out that I may have it.... My appointment is at 9:00am... Im sure she is going to laugh at me... Again!

Don't quit looking things up on the internet, just next time look up

I know exactly what your going through, I do the same thing, tonight my son came upstairs he is 26 told me he has a bad head cold and now here I sit with a stuffy nose sure that I got his cold, i am always looking things up on the web my Pdoc told me the web is my worst enemy in my mind I have had every disease known to man and some I invented myself. thing is I do have Polycystic Kidney which is a real disease I have lost many people in my family due to this and the real things I hardly worry about at all, I say it is what it is I cant change it. Its the things in our minds that cause us the most trouble. just know your not alone.

Somehow my granny heard about some disease supposed to be called something like "chickenitis" and told my dad that she thought she might have it!! LOL!! Then one time she was in a rowboat that got tipped over. She managed to keep her purse dry by holding it above her head, but as she was rising up out of the water, she had one little cough and said, "I think this water has given me a cold!" ROFWL!!!!!! I swear that I'm NOT making this up!! Granny was a bit of a hypochondriac I'm afraid! But unlike you, I think she WANTED to be sick!!! (I don't have health anxiety, but I know how irrational anxiety is! So I'm not making light of your situations! I have GAD and it's he**!! But if i made you smile a little, then I'm glad I shared my true granny stories with you!)

I totally agree stop looking on the net it only makes you worse
or anyone with health Anxiety and thats many ppl here ..........

i totally understand i have health anxiety too,i'm always looking things up and i worry about it til another ailment comes along then i worry about that.so i asure u i know exactlly what u are going through and it is no fun at all.

I do the same exact thing! Whenever I hear other problems people have, I immedietly think I have them and hit up the internet looking for symptoms and seeing if I have them. Yes I agree its a bad thing to do, but it seems like what you need to do at the time!
