Serenityseeker, you definitely should find a new doctor. I am in the process of finding a new one myself. My doctor refuses to perscribe anything narcotic, meaning that a lot of tranquilizer/anxiety helpers/painkillers aren't available to me at her choice. Right now she has me on buspirone, which doesn't really help my anxiety at all. It is so hard to be at the mercy of unhelpful people who are in a position like that. I seem to (nowadays) be only having anxiety during ovulation, and around menstration OR if something really out of the ordinary happens to trigger it. I usually get severely depressed during menstration also. I went through most SSRIs, and Celexa, which used to help me after I had tried so many others, actually gave me 24 hour a day anxiety when I tried starting it again. Not just mild anxiety but very serious attacks. I couldn't sleep, eat, or function, so I had to stop taking it and she refused to give me anything else and told me to get mental help. The problem with this is that I am on state insurance and the place I can go is so backed up that it is up to a month to even get an intake and 3 months to see a med doctor. Apparently she doesn't care a bit about what I am going through in the meantime. I used to have a competent med doctor a few years ago who perscribed me clonazepam to take when I had severe anxiety. Just .5 mg made a huge difference. I didn't need it every day, and I didn't abuse it. I quit using them because I was pregnant, but in my "hormonal" times I could sure use one now and then. If you have no luck with a new gyno, perhaps looking into mental health professionals would help, even if it seems homonal rather than mental, since no doctor I've ever seen seems to have any answers about hormone related anxiety.
I Guess I went on for a while, but I'm actually in one of those anxiety ridden times and know I am just a few days away from the depressive despair I have monthly, so I appreciate this forum. Good luck, and remember: You are in charge of your health, not them. If their choices don't seem right, or they aren't giving the issue the proper attention and effort you have a right to call them on it. They work for you!!! They are supposed to be there to help you. That's what they're paid for.
