I Truly Believe...

That anxiety sufferers are some of the bravest people in this world! Despite the trauma (YES, trauma!) of dealing with often intense and/or constant fear, dread, anxiety, worry, and so on, a person with anxiety deals with it somehow. We have to face, everyday, fear that could bring many powerful men to their knees. Unless an individual has went thru it, he/she has no real idea what it's like. (Afterall, it's not like a virus that you suffer with for a few days and then you're alright...IF ONLY IT WAS!!!) No, they just don't have a clue. No matter how much our family and friends may try, they truly can't understand. If they could walk only one day in our shoes, they'd be really grateful to be "normal"! Despite our disorders, we keep on living thru the tears, doubts, panic, and worry. We could "end it all", "take the easy way out", but NO! We are too BRAVE for that! I have low self-esteem, which may be fairly common among us ones with A/P disorders, but even so, I have to give myself credit for this! YES I AM BRAVE! And I say just as sincerely-SO ARE YOU! You are some of the bravest folks I know. This applies whether you're an agoraphobic that stays in the house or someone that works out in the secular world. Either way, you keep on trying and doing the best you can. My best may not be yours and your best may not be John's or Jane's...the only part that matters is that we GO ON and we TRY each and everyday. We LIVE. Please, do me and you a favor today, give yourself a well-deserved pat-on-the-back! You think about what I've said here and I do believe you'll agree: We are some of the bravest people in the world!

Thank you for posting this!  You are absolutely right, we are extremely brave for what we get up each day and not only face, but continue to try to improve.  Although we've been to the worst of the worst with this, and may have given up for a day or two, or even a few weeks, we never completely throw in the towel.  Eventually, we pick ourselves back up and try yet again.  We are an amazing group of people and I appreciate you pointing that out!!!!!

Thank you for posting this! Been having a bad day and it's really lifted my mood. I hate it when people act condescending because they think you have a 'nervous disposition'. They have no clue how it feels to face debilitating fear on a daily basis (something they'd only experience in an immediate and life-threatening situation).
