Moving to Tampa from Dallas July 1. I actually lived there 25 years ago. It's so weird. Deja Vu returning there.

Just got through obsessing about whether my definition of scary thoughts are the same as other people's. How's that for silly. With CBT I know it's just "toxic waste" from my caudate nucleus. Nothing more and I am able to deal with it.

Today was a good day and things seem to be mellowing somewhat with the Luvox.

That's what OCD is. "Toxic Waste" from the Orbital Cortex.
OCD is a brain malfunction. Thoughts others can easily dismiss we can't.
Luvox-CBT and the book "Brain Lock." A winning combination.

Guess what.
Absolutely no agitation from Luvox today. None.
I hope that stage is over.
Could be because the real world is giving me difficulty. New job may be falling through.

I m happy about the no aggitation and that is with a good head thinking that way
I am so glad you have this thread there are VERY few I look forward to that prove this demon can be fought IF you take the initiative and I know you have........

I have the PG and IV back in again legs are so swollen can barely walk BUT at leat I ca barely

Going to Toronto to p/u Cait her Tour of Duty is done with now she is sad to leave all new found friends and Big city shopping ( just about broke the bank lol) but is also glad to be coming home she misses her mommy an dher friends and all her pets ........

I am so sorry to hear you are having those difficulties. Everything for a reason. I am sure it will be better soon.

The new job is up in the air. We will know in about two weeks.

I am doing well. Very little agitation. Some days better than others. The Luvox is making me very drowsy today. It's worth the drowsiness to beat back the OCD.

You will beat it!

I'm at week four on 300 mgs. of Luvox. I still feel better but I believe the CBT is doing me more good than the Luvox. There are days the Luvox seems more hassle than help. Zombie like drowsiness and confusion. Then agitation. Today was a pretty good day. I am making significant progress. But, I think i may need to cut the dose. See the Pdoc next Thursday. We will see.

I think it might be the dose as well so hoping your doc will help you out with this ........

I am now back on another 7 days of IV antibitiotics .........I am full of sores but you are right I WILL BEAT THIS.........

I am going to discuss this situation with Luvox with the Pdoc this afternoon by phone. I am feeling "out of it" too much of the time. The agitation is there and I believe it's actually hurting more than helping. The CBT helps immensely. I think I just can't tolerate anything but small doses of SSRIs.

Still making progress, but I'm beginning to think the SSRIs I've been trying for the last year are harming more than helping.

Thats quite possible and the exact reason I do not take them I take valium as needed or ativan when broke out
The ssri's made me a * itch to live with and I dint like what I was feeling I was on Luvox and yes it helped at first but then I got to feeling as you are

I hope all turns out for you my friend

I will either taper to a very low dose or go off all together. I was fine on just 20 mgs. of Prozac for a long time. That's considered a low dose for OCD.

Right now I feel like a Zombie too much of the time. "Detatched" is a good word for the phenomenon. A low dose and CBT with Klonopin as necessary should be the ticket. Can't wait to feel normal again.

We do have much in common.

I do hope that the change is the ticket my friend I really dio think you are using your marbles in this and thats a great way to do it ...the only way really

I am fine still have my lovely IV makes for a great way to accessorize goes with everything lol
and he** it is still good so I am going to keep on keeping on ya know and I am reading everyday I so love this book am rec to alot lately
NO surprise how many OCD..er's there are out there ya know
ROUTINE is the way of life and some of us get caught up in it way too much
'Happy to say I have not vacummed in 4 days and ONLY washing floor once a day.......thats big steps for this contender......and I can leave utensils in sink ........

You sound great. Even with all our "stuff" we enjoy life.

I am doing well. As I said earlier truly believe i am not cut out for large doses of SSRIs. I saw a great piece at an OCD website saying for some OCD sufferers you only need small doses. Now, that runs contrary to all literature, but this guy is a Hravard psych pharmacologist. Very reknown. Dr. Robert Jenike. I am taking this info to my Pdoc.

Actually, I'd love to hear from Jaymay. Effexor may be an option. My brother takes Effexor and his daughter. They swear by it.

However, the increased agitation and drowsiness combo must go. For anyone reading this, everyone is different. Luvox has shown some great promise for me. Maybe I will stick with Luvox, but at low doses. Do not judge a drug by other people's experience. We are all different. I had great success on just 20 mgs of Prozac. Trying to find the right replacement.

Thats it right there in a nutshell even with ALL my DD and illnesses I DO love life and try to get all I can out of it even if I am bent over in severe pain I will still take the time to Smell a beautiful flower ya know and laugh

It looks like at age 57 (today is my birthday 5/28) I must change careers. I have been in radio for 39 years. It's not in a growth stage here in the US. I will still do a show on weekends. But, need to find something new weekdays. Kinda scary. But, I am actually excited about the prospect. God opens doors and closes doors. Maybe I will teach journalism. Have an appointment with the people at a local University. My credentials are there.

Anyhow, will be seeing the CBT doc tomorrow. That's great. Friday see the Pdoc. Will not ask. Will demand a low dose of the SSRI or i will quit altogether and go the route you go. Just a benzo for emergencies. I believe we must take control of these situations. When it comes to psych meds patients must be informed and take control.

I am 53 yrs young and LOVING it .........only the odd wrinkle shows my age but who cares I am still a young one at heart

I totally agree you .........HAVE to take control of what they want you to do and PUT into your body

 

I was a flip on the luvox no chit my mom was so scared she had me go to emerg

Since then I take only as needed Valium 5 mgs prn and I am finding it great for me

I dont know about others they seem to have good luck with ssri's anti D but for me it was not an option

Tried to take 150 mgs of the Luvox instead of the 200 prescribed by the Doc to taper. Miserable. High anxiety. Took the 200 today and feel a bit better. Can't wait until I'm on a small dose of something less sedating.
Great day with CBT doc yesterday. I am convinced that without the buzz from the SSRI I'd be far further ahead.

I am starting to have the same mind set as you about the sedating effects this is causing you

I hope they will change you to a quick acting med to combat this

I DO not get drowsy ,buzzy nothing from the valium only relief
Glad the CBT is working'I was one of the biggest "Skeptics" ever

Til I finally gave it a shot and it is working well for me too

Good news. Pdoc agreed with me. I am tapering off Luvox 150 mgs for three days. Then 100, 50. When I get to the 50 mg mark I will switch to 20 mgs. of Prozac. Yep. Enough time has passed since poop out.

Also going to switch from Klonopin to Ativan. If it doesn't appreciably change anything I will stick to the Klonopin. Too many instances of paradoxical performance from Klonopin.

Meanwhile, the agitation from the tapering off Luvox is off the charts. Now, i see what people mean when they discuss withdrawal symptoms. Mood swings. Vicious anxiety. However, when you know what it is... The CBT is an immense help. Can't wait to be off Luvox.

I thought the agitation was bad sometimes as I ramped up the dosage. The tapering is incredibly agitating. I don't say anxiety. That I produce. I say agitation because it's a side effect. I am probably tapering too quickly. Doc's plan. Three days on 150. Three days on 100. Then combine 20 mgs. of the Prozac with 50 mgs. of Luvox for three days. Can't wait for Luvox to clear my system. Prozac should help end the tapering withdrawal.

I do understand the aggitation from many drugs I have to take for all the illnesses I do live with
I get mood swings like crazy some days and others I am fine
Sometimes I feel like I have no idea who is yelling ya know me or my other "me"

I so wish this is quick for you and you will get to the prozac with Luvox out of system

I feel your frustration

But I am glad you are still plodding along and making great progress
You definitely are a great mentor for many on here

Today was much better. Pdoc switched my benzo to Ativan from Klonopin after i complained the Klonopin was paradoxical at times. The Ativan seems far more effective at helping with the agitation. Only taking .50 mgs a day. Great for this withdrawal. Tomorrow go to 100 mgs of Luvox. Then Thursday 50 mgs plus Prozac. Then Sunday just the Prozac. Can't wait.

CBT doc tomorrow. We will have a great deal to discuss. OCD, new meds and a career change possibly in the works. Phew.
