These two quesions have nothing to do  with another, but I need some input if anyone has any that'd be great...

First...

I am on Paroxetine(Paxil), and have been on it for about 5weeks now and am not sure if I really notice any difference. I still think alot and worry. I get anxious and sad sometimes. Just wondering if anyone else who takes this medicine could tell me how it worked/works for them. thanks.

2nd...

I was told by my GI doc. that I could no longer be on the pill, so I had to switch to another type of birth control. So today I went to Womens Health and one of my choices is something called Implanon, its a flexible plastic rod the size of a matchstick that is put under the skin of your arm and can stay there for 3 years. I was just wondering if anyone has this or knows anyone elses experiences with it?Side effects? Also my other 2 choices are the depo shot or the patch...not sure what I will choose, but with the Implanon I may never get my period,which sounds really nice...any input would be great!!!Thanks guys!!!

HI Jill,

First off I am not sure about the 1st questions I have never taken it, however I have some advice on your 2nd question.
I have had the depo shots and they made me feel really moody and the last thing I need is to be moody on top of having panic attacks!
The shots were not that painful to me, they go in your hip/butt area but it is kinda hard to remeber to get them on time and some ins companies make you call a week to 2 weeks ahead to set up the shot or you cant get it and wont get it on time.
Not sure about the patch.
Think really hard about getting anything put under your skin! I just got my iud out and it was a pain! I had my iud for 4 1/2 and had no problems with it until it can time to come out, then the trouble and the mental stress began. So think real hard before you implant anything in your body. Also the 5 year iud makes your periods so light some months your not sure you had one.
I am not sure if I helped any but just thought I would put my thoughts out there for you! Good luck with picking your next Birth control!

Good Morning,

There are many posts on Paxil and SSRI's but from what I have understood you need to give the med 4-6 weeks or maybe even more for full effect. Everyone is different so your time frame will be different from mine.

I don't know anything about birth control meds....................sorry can't help you out there redface .

the usual paxil dose range is 20 to 50 so ask doc about upping the dose and stay on it a bit longer

I am on 10 mg of Paxil and was anxiety and panic free for 8 years. You do have to give it some time to work, however, Paxil is not for everyone. Give it some more time, if you still don't notice a difference then go see your Dr. again.
