I just wanted to introduce myself, I used to have sever anxiety/phobia about a LOT of things, including driving. Now I'm completely over it all and glad that time in my life is behind me, but it's one of those things that once you go through it you want to help others find their way as well. Maybe I'll be able to give some decent advice, we'll see.

Hello and Welcome.

Congrats!  Happy to hear you are better now.   Hopefully you can give us some input on how you were able to overcome this.

drivingfear,

im going threw this right now! i havent driven alone for probley 3-4 months and i'm starting school again in a week and have to drive 45 minutes a day there and back and im scared. what did you do to help yourself get over this fear?!

In a nutshell, what I did was get information. I read and re-read everything I could get my hands on relating to anxiety and pain, some going back to pre-1900. Then I tested all the techniques to see what worked and how it could be modified to overcome driving in particular. The actual "cure" was fast, it was designing the "recipe" that took a LONG time. That's why I got involved with the Driving Fear program to help those with the same issues as I had not to have to go through the years of searching I had to. It's a "cookbook" for the fear I guess you could say. The link in my sig gives more info or you could shoot me an email if you need more info.
