Received a "social security" disability summary

I have been a SAHM for 9 years now-----I have worked Part Time (or full time) since I was 16----until the time I decided to SAHM.......and it says that I am NOT eligible for disability b/c I don't have enough credits to qualify?

I am not thinking of applying for SS at this point--but, if I can't get a job b/c of all of this stuff going on----and I don't 'qualify' for SS disability---what do I do?

Anyone know what I mean? Anyone been told the same thing by SS, only to get the Disability?

I wish I had your answers hun But here in Ontario it is so different for this ......
I am sure someone will post and help you out .....
In the meantime I do know how frustrating this can be I went thru it with disabilty here and I ended up getting over 10,000 in back monies ............
I am sure they is an appeal process.........NOT positive so I will bow to the experts on this

Hey Laurel.. sorry to hear about this.. I don't have much to offer on the subject.. BUT you can contact Erin the other mod on the Arthritis forum and she's been through this process, so if you want, you can shoot her an email or make a post to her and I'm sure she'd be happy to share what she had to go through... thanks Ducky and Kitt and Lyn! I will find Erin and see what I can learn! I thought it was interesting---and frustrating... I have never read one of those summaries---and when I saw that---I thought, "no way"!

My sister got disability without having enough credits. It was a 4 year battle and she had to get an attorney to push for her, but she did get approved. And she got the full amount.

Squattie---that is good to know---It's funny---I have worked so long---and a lot of hours over the years---I couldn't believe that I didn't have enough credits! Guess it doesn't matter? I will keep getting an attorney in mind, if it ever comes to that! :)

I also had an attorney supplied by the Judicial ( sp) Cousel here free of charge to appeal my foirst denial it was because NO one knew what Pyoderma Ganrenosum was back then ..........
