Hi everyone,
My doc is starting me on Celexa, 20mg today to treat my anxiety. I've read the list of side effects and they don't sound too bad. Is anyone on here taking Celexa? How long before it starts to work?
Thanks!

Hey Laura,
I'm on Celexa and it's worked wonders for me! I started out on 10 mg, since I'm very slight and tend to have strong reactions to meds. But, I'm up to 20 mg now. I've been on it now for about
six months and I've had no side effects. I can't remember how long it took before it kicked in, but I think it only took a week or so. I'm much more my natural bubbly, outgoing self than I was beforehand. My doctor prescribed it for me for my depression, but one of the benefits is that it also used to treat anxiety, which I also have. So, it was like catching two butterflies in a single net! :) I'm not really as anxious as I was, I'm much more confident, and I can not effectively deal with stressful situations, that normally would have put me over the edge!
Best of luck!

hi Laura
I take Celexa 60 mg in the mornings. I have a history of the meds not helping but I will confess it was my fault. I did not conform to the doc RX. I only took them when I feel withdrawal symtoms. I dont have any side effect and since a month ago when I was hospitalized I have been taking them as I should. My depression has lifted a lot since. I dont think you will have any problem with it.

I have been taking Celexa for a few years now. I am doing well on it. I also take Remeron for depression and the combo works for me. I hope you are feeling better soon.

I am a Celexa user also, have been for probably 10 years, and now take 40 mg at bedtime. I think it started working within 2-3 weeks for me and got better after 6 weeks.
