Hi there all
Yes Easter is coming it is usually every 15 yrs I believe it falls n March ......Correct me if I am wrong...
This was my Mom's fav holiday and this yr it falls on the week after she passed away
My dad is literally on his deathbed and I have really no idea what the other siblings want to do BUT I know I will be celebrating here at home with Howie's kids

Howie has always been there for me and ALL family issues ( there are so many) as well as my illnesses .........Now it is his turn to have his family and his GK here well mine too lol step but still mine
I am looking forward to having a lil egg hunt for them and cooking a nice ham and a turkey with all the trimmings ..........
Easter baskets and all of it ....I am getting excited ...FINALLY and yet I know on Thursday it will hit with Mom ........I know I can come here and vent cry whatever .......



Personally I think it will be best for me to Celebrate Mom's life and the fact that soon dad will be out of pain and no longer the way he is
I hope that doesnt sound crass or harsh it is fact he is in bad shape ......The daughter in me doesnt want him to go
The Nurse in me knows it is for the best........

What are your plans and do you have holiday angst among your famiies .........

Please feel free to share anything you like even some nice lil recipes or idea for lil kids to do .....

Hey All,
Good Morning and you asked so here is what I am doing, I am going to find my easter eggs, I hid them myself so it shouldn't take me to long if I can just remember where I put them. smile
Actually I am flying out to Newport, Oregon to spend Easter with my oldest son, wife and 3 children. I have only spent one holiday at their home years ago on Thanksgiving and this year I did one of my compulsive moves and just made the plans. The children are 14, 12 and 7. I am staying in an ocean front hotel as they have a very small house and this way I can have the kids with me to swim in the pool and just spoil a bit. We can walk on the beach and try not to blow out to sea. My son is a project engineer with Georgia Pacific and went in the marines at age 18, he never moved back home. I had my first meltdown that year, I guess the empty nest syndrome really is not a myth.
I am truly excited but always a bit anxious getting to where I am going.

SOOOOOOOOO after my week from Hades I will be having Howie's sons and daughter here and 5 yes folks 5 gk's
Am going to do an eggie hunt in the park with them hoping weather prevails ........and NERVES.......

I will just take a valium or 2 thats allowed right ........
I am hoping it will brighten my Easter as it really is hard knowing this was mom's fav Holiday and she alwasy put everything into it .........I am going to be POSITIVE...see what CBT can do for ya .......

I am excited about Easter this Sunday. I am looking forward to it. It is my daughters 2nd Easter but now she will be able to hunt eggs because she is 15 months and my sons first easter and he is 4 1/2 months so he cant do much but look cute. I am taking them to WalMart Thursday to Portrait Studio to have their pics done for Easter. And Sunday we have two family gatherings to go to. One gathering is mainly just to get together and eat. And the other is full of kids and fun easter egg hunting. I am excited. They hunt boiled decorated eggs and plastic, and have big prize eggs . Im looking forward to it. hehehe! Hope everyone has a great easter.

I'll be driving to visit my folks and my mom's side of the family in upstate NY. It's about a 7 1/2 hour drive, which I'm not looking forward to. I talked to my mom last night though and she asked me what I wanted her to cook for me when I came home. So, Sat. night we're having deep dish pizza with homemade sauce and eggs benedict on Sun. morning. Yum! :)

It's funny, I recently started dating this great guy, it hasn't even been two months yet, but we've shared a lot of stories about our families. My mom can be a bit overwhelming and annoying at times. But, usually welcomes and feeds anyone that shows up! (I told him that I wouldn't bring him home with me, since I didn't want to put him through that just yet! He greatly appreciated my thoughtfulness!) So one of the stories I told him was that ever since I was about 16 years old my mom has been bugging me for grandkids. She wants me to have four little boys all with red hair and green eyes to torture me for what a terrible teenager I was. While, my younger brother is suppose to have four little girls all with blonde hair and blue eyes. Well, my boyfriend's response was "Well, I think I could pull off the red hair, since it runs in my family, so maybe I could just show up and tell her that I'm here to impregnant her daughter!" I thought that it was hillarious! :) But, he's still staying here, maybe for the 4th of July...

What a fun Easter you ar planning with your family. Be sure to take pictures. I am sure the kids will have so much fun they will fall asleep without any problems on Sunday night.

Make sure to bring all your favorite CD's for the drive and make plenty of stops for rest. Just think it was not long ago you were feeling alone and like there was no match for you. Well from your cute story about the red heads I would guess you have met your match and he has a good sense of humor.
Tell your Mom there is a lady in MN that loves deep dish pizza but the drive is more than 7 1/2 hours or you would have one more guest at your house.
Cherish your time with your Mom. Make your own special memories and be sure to tell her how much you love her.

I am so glad you are all excited Anastasia .....the easter egg hunts are the best .....I still remember caits lil walk trying to pick up the lil eggs in the park
We too are having one for Howies grandkids as I posted ( weather permitting) or I will have it in the rec room one way or another I WILL have it
Yes plxz do take some pics as Lil sis said it would be great to see all of you having fun .......

I am getting excited about easter I REALLY am getting myself geared up for a house full of ppl and kids ( in a OCD house yep uh huh ) oh well I DONT care I can clean up later right
I am glad Howie will have his sons and daughter here he does desreve it after all the yrs of putting up with my family crud and problems ......
Cait seems to be more up on the idea too but I do know still Thursday ( mom) I will break I am going to TRY to live and think of her and the great times and Memories ( a wise sis told me ) like I was told to ....and it makes more sense to me ...........then to cry as I know she would not ever want this on her favorite Holiday .......

Looks like were heading to Atlantic City for the day.
I'm going with my Hubby and 3 of my cousins.
Hopefully the weather will be nice enough to walk on the beach.
That is very therapeutic for me.


Who knows, maybe I'll win the BIG one!!!!! LOL

Well Im to sure at the moment what we be doing but I am working on coming up with something for my kids. I just wish we had more family close by to enjoy the day with.
Im sure we will be coloring eggs and hiding them and a few plastic ones with prizes in them. They always love that. We live on 10 acres and have goats and horses and I like to hide the eggs in the feild with the goats and watch the goats follow around the kids as they hunt for the eggs. There is always a goat or 2 that trys to taste and egg and thats ALWAYS funny!

I remember once growing up we went to my grandmothers and us kids were all starting to get a bit older (we thought we were grown at 12, LOL)
So us kids hid the eggs for the adults that year and it was so much fun to reverse it. The adult including my grandparents got out there and looked for eggs. A few eggs got steped on cuz a couple my uncle didnt see to well and didnt have his glasses. It was fun. However sadly it was one of the last egg hunts with family we had. There was some big problems in the family and everone kinda went thier own way.

I really hope all of you have a very good Easter!

I loved the boardwalk in Atlantic city, just look out for the wild cats on the beach...............don't feed the kitties, just the slot machines.

Sounds like you have some great memories of Easters gone by and now your making memories for you own family. Kudos to you sweetie.
