I like to read and I am also a great fan of CSI and Law and Order.

I love to paint on canvas, wood burn, make jewelry and work with stones. I have a rock saw and I like to slice the stones and see what they look like inside. So I always have something to do.

I also love Law and Order, but I refuse to buy cable, so I get my fix when I go over to my boyfriend's house! I also love to read, so I go to my public library to pick up books and movies at least once a week. I'm also still waiting for spring here in northern New England, so I can start my garden. This year I plan on planting tomatoes, peppers, mini rose, lavendar, camomile, herbs, snow peas, eggplant, lettuce, spinach, and carrots.

Wow, Karen, you obviously have talent.  Where did you learn to do all of those great hobbies?

Sadsong, I will request books from the library online or I have also paid a rent fee for one I just had to read right now.  
I may have to see how to start a garden. I had a Chia Pet Once. devil

Wow all of these things sound great!!! I wish that when I was bored I liked to clean but alas... that isn't the case. I am a HUGE movie buff and would watch every movie ever made if that was possible. I also love to read and can totally immerse myself that way. The majority of the time, I am trying to keep my children occupied and happy. I also love to go for walks!!

My favorite hobby is needlepointing.  I mostly do bargello cushions and get my patterns from books which is a real challenge as they often don't give such good instructions.  I have found a fabulous company in the UK that has wonderful kits complete with yarn, canvas and instructiions. I just seem to get lost in the stitching and hours have gone by.  I also love to read and I love to garden.  Can't wait for Spring - it's still really cold here in the midwest.  Bad winter! I can't wait for the green shoots of my tulips to pop up.  Having a hobby really helps with depression and anxiety.  It gives you a way to concentrate on something else besides yourself.

My hobbies/passions are sewing and gardening, I love to do both and can't wait for the snow to go away and the ground to thaw so I can get my hands dirty again (but I'll wash them before sewing - LOL).  I can get totally lost in both of these hobbies, so much so that by the time I look at the clock again, several hours have passed.  I've been late fixing supper more than once because of this - LOL.  I also like to watch TV and read.   BTW - great thread!!! Thanks for bringing this one back to the front page.

I love to read (have a huge room exclusively as my library at home) and fix things around the house and yard when time and energy permit. And even at my age, I still get suckered into computer games -- puzzles and solitaire type ones.

I love my dog, and everyday we take a short nap together on my bed.  She is a doberman, black and tan named Morgan.  She will hop up on the bed and bark at me til I come in to lay down next to her.  She is so spoiled.  tongue Thank you for all your wonderful posts and the way you lift everyones spirits with your positive attitude.  You rock!

Hey you guys,

I noticed that there were a lot of gardeners posting. I got some seeds started in the greenhouse, then I bought a few plants too. We did have a few cold nights, and I did lose a couple of things, but all in all it is doing okay. Some seeds have sprouted, but not all of them. I still have to plant my herbs and a few flowers. I going to plant rosemary, basil and sage. Maybe a couple others, oh yes, greek oregano. I heard that was the best. I am so excited, I have been going out mushroom hunting the last few days. Have found enough to eat twice. Yum. Being out in the woods again is great.

I am glad that this thread is back.

Looks like you love mushrooms,how you decide if they are poisonous or not,thats a skill.

my garden gives me such peace . nothing better than getting your hands dirty in the nice warm ground , getting a late start here because winter doesn't want to leave . tomatoes are awesome though . thats only thing i miss from calif . megie

Today I took my camera in the woods with me. I took pictures of the mushrooms and of false morel mushrooms, that are poisoness. They do look a lot alike. The real ones are all one piece and they are hollow all the way through. The false ones are a solid stem and the top rests on it. That is how I tell them apart. I also took pictures of wild flowers, a neat looking little birds nest that hung in the tree and of the trees against the blue sky. It was beautiful.

I hope you all had a wonderful day too. I am tired from all the fresh air and walking, but it was fun...

Got to finish planting my seeds soon, I got a late start too with our winter hanging on.

Great one I just saw this weekend is thr3e. If anyone is intersted in a good psych thriller, I give it two thumbs up.
My pain has kept me in bed for the past few months so lately my hobbies include movies, drawing sometimes a good nap (which I like to call...meditation, just sounds a whole lot more productive) and of course day dreaming about what I'm going to do when I get better!

I love your fantasy but if your only 12 years old you have a few years to wait for the Pina colada.  Well we could make you up a virgin one and then you would be ok.

My granddaughters order those all the time, Bren.  One of the girls is 15 and the other 17.  They love the strawberry blended concoctions.

Anything to put a smile on your face is good.  :-)

i have going threw the house and getting rid of stuff , its so weird when you clean you feel better i don't know if your taking out frustration, or it just feels good. i feel even better to unload alot of stuff to salvation army, only problem though i clean the kids room i swear it comes back the junk ,clothes everything, took six bags of stuff out of one room, and i bet in a few days it will be back to messy, i have been working in my room too, i about to enter the older childs room if she lets me, hehe tongue
