Dear Celey,
Hi there, this is Kitt and I am glad you felt comfortable writing about yourself. It is good for the soul to get it out and down on paper. You are safe here and we will do our best to help you.
First of all you come from a dysfunctional family and that is no ones fault and certainly not yours but because of it you have been through a lot for someone so young.
You have a good head on your shoulders and you recognize that your chronic condition, Crohns, is a probable reason for some of your depression. I would agree with that. My hubby has Crohns and it has affected his life in major ways. I can tell when he is feeling down but I don't push him as he handles his feelings in his way and it works for him.
Psychiatric side effects, such as mania, depression, and psychosis, are well known when taking drugs such as prednisone. I am not a professional so talking with your physician about your depression and how you are doing seems like a good idea. Perhaps a new antidepressant may work better for you.
I see where you are struggling with your family situation with your siblings being separated and your fear for your sister that is on her own. I think that is very normal for you to feel worried and concerned for them.
If your sister is going to join the service that may be a good thing for her as Boot Camp will be a great help in dealing with any alcohol or drug problems. The service has a way of identifiying these people in need and they are helped with their problems before they go through regular boot camp.
Celey, people who are emotionally healthy are in control of their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. They feel good about themselves and have good relationships. They can keep problems in perspective. Have you looked into the CBT online for free. It may help you until you can get into therapy.
