 I thought this might be nice for a change ya know idea

My best memories of childhood was when Mom n Dad were not drinking and

All us kids and them would go walking

for hours and hours looking at the beautiful things

Mother Nature had given us ............ turn

I have more but will wait to see if anyone posts lol

I was sort of adopt by a family down the street from me when I lived in NJ. I came and went as I pleased and they always set a place for me at the table. Treated me like one of their own. I'd even go over there at night to watch "Dukes of Hazards" with them. Closes thing I ever had to a normal family.

Going to the Western Uni and going to biggest hills and tobagggining ( sp ) lol down those HUGE hills

Now as old as I am they look like lil ones

Go figure lol

Sledding. Only thing I miss about snow. In NJ we used an embankment, it was a heck of a ride ... zoom! In Philly, the best thing about snow was no school.

Oh my childhood memories. 

I remember my prom dates and getting my drivers license.  My Father taught me to drive, he had the patience of a saint.

I lived in Wisconsin, so we went ice skating on a frozen back water of the Mississippi.  There were lights and music on the ice and the smell of hot popcorn and wet mittens in the warming house.

I remember being 17 and in love, oh dear I better qut now.

I could write a book.

OOOHH my big sister Barbara was always there for me, she is ten years my senior and was always like a second mom to me. And my big brother Bo just called me the other day on my birthday and made me cry he is soooo sweet. And he takes such tender loving care of my mom. Some of my fondest memories were of when we would all pile in my parents 63 Impala stationwagon we called "Nellie" and drove from Calif to Arkansas to visit my grandparents. I remember all the yummy little cafe's we stopped in to eat. They always had the best food ever.

I can picture you all

I loved ROLLER SKATING
I won many dance awards with skating routines

My parents even came to see me perform at the Old London Arena .............
No longer there................awwwwwwww

I ended up being a "Cruiser"
The person or one of them that helped ppl when they fell and kept fights off the rink

My heart would be so full of excitement as soon as we all got off the bus and saw the arena
It is also where I met my first love and father of son Rick Jr.........
Kinda bittersweet memory as I lost Rick Sr in 79
BUT I sure could do a mean boogie on dem skates
yep I could .....
HMMMM I am a wondering IF I could do it now
Ya betcha maybe not as great but I would
give er a shot

I tried skating once, I polished the whole rink with my butt. My buddies were laughing so hard they could barely stand themselves. I think Tommy was getting even for the tennis game, I never played before, he severed and I returned that ball with all my might straight to his groin, game over, I win. I felt bad too ... well not about the winning part. :-)

when my mom used to walk me around the neighborhood and take me to the dollarstore. she'd take me to the park for hours and buy me ice cream and call me her little pretty girl.

i remember my mom would buy my sisters and i bubble gum flavored soda if we were good, and we would just barely crack open the can and sip on the soda for hours. lol!!! i cant believe i remember that!! turn

What a great post. Buddha, I've polished a few skating rinks with my butt too!!

I remember every friday night my mother would take me grocery shopping (it was our special time to sing and be silly) I could buy one whole chocolate bar just for moi. I would make it last all weekend!

It was such a happy day when my parents got divorced. We threw my mum a huge party and we rocked the street that night turn turn

I remember my 8th grade DC trip...that was so much fun. And when I went to Chicago with my two childhood friends to the American Girl doll place...that was heaven for us. :D When I was in second grade my mom and I visited my grandma in Arizona. We were there for six days and I remember I got to miss three days of school, which made me uber-happy haha. And of course, high school dances...though those weren't that long ago, since my last one was prom in May. Miss them though, I loved shopping for dresses.

My best family memories are from our xmas eve midnight mass and "reveillon" or family get together afterwards... to the wee hours of the morning... I remember coming out of midnight mass and it always seemed to be snowing very gently.... We would all meet at someone's house , eat , sing, play instruments, play games till 5 a.m. I had aunts and uncles and cousins coming out my ears....
Between xmas and new years , we would all go ice fishing. My grandfather was a trapper... he had a dog sled and would give us rides around the lake... he had a big old army tent that he would pitch up right there on the lake..we'd roast weenies and marshmallows on the lake and sing, sing , sing. .
During the summer, that same gang would call each other up and then meet at a local lake, where we would go blueberry picking , steal each others blueberry patches, play baseball and horseshoes..and we'd sing some more!

Memmories I have sooo many. Sitting in front of the old green wood stove listening to the fire crackle. While sitting on my grandpa"s lap drinking some milky sweet coffee. As he sang to me a Navaho song he learned from a friend. Little red shoes on the window sill. Scraping the frost off the windows. Ice skating on a pond. Roller skating in front of my sisters house with my niece. Yes I cone from a very large family I'm#11 of 12. Several of my sibling were married and had children before I was born . So my nieces and nephews were my friends and classmates. Collecting tadpoles in stagnent warer. I could go on for ever. Why is it that we cant loose ouselves in good memmorie in times of trouble. Great end to the evening. Thanks everyone for sharing .

Wow, number 11 turn   I bet you have tons of good memories. I was my father's only child so I was raised as an only child.  My half sisters lived with their own father when our Mother was killed.  I was only 18 months old so I have no memories of her.

Keep on posting and yes this is an awesome post by Lyn.  She is always on top of things..........This forum is her baby and I am so glad she has been my mentor and Big Sis now.

Oooo, toboganning - the whole family! My dad would plow a track down through the hayfield, and we'd all pile on, bundled up and shrieking. If the dog got too close in his eager romping along at the side, look out! We'd grab him on our way past and take him along for the ride too. Wheeeeeeee!

My dad was an only child . That's the reason he wanted a large family. He worked very hard, for all of us. I have nothing but good memories. My only sad one was in the evening when the sun would set, I wanted my day to go on and on. It sort of did we'd play outside in the dark , till it was time to wash up and go to sleep in a cozy fluffy mattress. Piled high with quilts made by my mom.
