Swelling under Jaw, Lymph node

On 28th September 2008, i was in night shift doing my work. My friend on my left called me. I looked at him and felt something choking/swelling/pressure under right jaw. It was the first time that i experienced this. I had continuous 5 day 13hrs shift + 4 hrs driving so i could not get time to see doctor. During my 4th shift, it felt like huge lump that's swollen and abstracting breathing somewhat.Also anexity. During my off, i searched internet. Now, i have been chewing tobacco for 3 years. During last 6 months it got insanely out of control. These signs like sore throat, lump in neck looked like cancer. I thought that i am done and its end of my life. I searched white patches, but i didnot find any. I didnot have any pain in moving Jaw, tongue,lips. I really got depressed.
Somehow i managed to see doctor who said its infection in lymph gland. But, he did not asked for CT scan or blood test. He gave antibiotics for 3 days and its improved like 80%. But its 1 month now and feeling is not totally gone but improved alot. somehow fear of cancer got me away from tobacco for 1 week but i had not totally given up. I reduced intake to 90%.

My question is how long does it take for lymph glands to come to their original form? Do i need to see ENT or some other tests? Is it allergy from tobacco?
My age is 24 yrs and my weight is around 120kg=264 pounds.
