Question on meds ?

I will be going to my doctor on june 5th and was wondering if there is any meds i can ask him about putting me on that may help me . I really want to find a good med that will help me so i can go back to work . Is there any meds that work really good ... I am at the point i dont care for the cost of it i just want something that works

Hi Jenny

Thats a tough question as we are all different and what works well for one person may not work for an other, My suggestion would be to try one off the ssri's first and see how you get on and remember that you need to give these meds 6 to 8 weeks before you can see any positive affects. An other option would be one of the benzo's such as xnax or valium which do work very well in reducing anxiety but can be addictive.

Chat with your doctor and he/she will be able to put forward the best option for you to try, You could also ask about doing some therapy as this does help you to understand and deal with whats going on. Take care and I hope you find something that helps you.

Basically, Ben said it all. The only thing I would add is that you can take the Benzos while dealing with any side effects from the anti-depressants. Then you wean off the Benzos and can take them only as needed. Make sure you discuss these options with the therapist or PCP.
