drinking while on xanax

is it okay to have a few social drinks while on xanax.  not so that you get drunk but maybe have a beer or two.  anyone know?

The less you drink the better.......

Try very hard not to.  one or two periodically may be OK, but the combination of the two can be very damaging over time.  The best course is no alcohol at all.  Believe me, I learned this the hard way, it is not worth it.

I know many people that do, but it can be very dangerous. I would advise anyone that is on a benzo + drinking to talk to their doctors if it is an issue.

It's a bad combination short and long term. Very hard on the liver, and also it's possible that very bad things could happen as one drug magnifies the effect of the other, resulting in things like coma, death, etc.

Dixi I am really sorry, I deleted your post- I hope you understand, I know you were trying to help make a point, but that comment had the potential to distress people- which I know was not your intention at all, but we need to be careful and sensitive towards the possible reactions of others.

I have been on Xanax many years and never would drink alcahol on it, I did ask my Dr about it and he said to try one of the alcahol free beers that are out there looks like beer but has no alcahol in it, I bought 2 bottles of it and there still in the fridge after 4 months lol, still cant bring myself to even try those. What I do when at a function like a wedding ect, and dont want to be the odd man out ask for a non alcahol beverage like OJ or Coke and have the bartender put it in a glass that looks like a drink. I put spakling grape juice in a wine glass, but for sure ask your own DR about it.
