painful lymph node - panicking

ok just started yesterday - and my son had the same thing but his is feeling better.  i am of course focusing on mine.  hurts when i swallow but not my throat - just my neck below my jaw area like on my jugular.  it is not that swollen but hurts.  anyone else ever have this happen.  i hate running to the doctor for everything.  i hate focusing on any symptom like this. 

it hurts to touch it.  ugh  don't think i injured my neck

I have had a clogged salivary gland that would swell up everytime I ate something. Scared me, but turns out its really nothing and easily treated with antibiotics. Could be you are just getting a bug. Take a deep breath all will be okay.

thanks Gail - I have had a sore tooth too but it's not on the same side.  and it didn't really hurt this weekend. may be sinuses too.  my dentist said the tooth doesn't look bad.  no swelling or anything. i  had it filled a few months ago.  i hate when dentists really can't tell you anything.  ugh

I have the same issue that Nanners has with a salivary gland that will clog and swell up but usually with warm moist packs it will resolve. I had an MRI and it was normal so I do not panic when this happens. It is uncomfortable but as long as I know it will resolve itself I just stay in the moment.


Many things cause swollen lymph nodes and usually in the neck it is related to an infection. If it does not resolve on it's own you may want to see your physician.

Usually right under your ear. At least mine does and it feels like it just puffs up suddenly and hurts from the swelling.

Mine was like Kitt described, but can also be under the jaw a little.
