Monitoring your eyes when you're having anxiety issues can be important. I have a condition in my left eye that is affected by my blood pressure. My prescription can vary according to how much stress I'm under. It's a simple thing to manage, though.
There are places to get inexpensive glasses, too, like someone mentioned above. If you get your eyes checked for disease, etc and find that you just need your prescription adjusted, you can find some pretty affordable options with research.
I have actually asked, "Where are your cheapest frames?" once. The clerk just smiled and pulled out a basket of "economy" frames. I found a simple, nice pair and I'm wearing them now, two years later.
Also, re your uncomfortable frames - if your prescription is still correct, did you know that you can get your lenses polished and put into new frames? It's much less expensive than a new pair.
