I wrote a little while back about
how I am worried about
my mom's health. Well, today, I was reading a short article in a mini health magazine that I received in the mail, about
COPD. My mom has every single one of the early warning signs that was listed!
I brought it to her attention and she said "Well, I have a lot of symptoms of all kinds of things!" I think what she was basically saying is that her symptoms can relate to all sort of different things and thus, she dismissed the info.
I know that I can't do anything else to try to get her to the doctor. I have tried. I've cajoled and I've pleaded and I've cried. She finally agreed to go to the doc...but with the stipulation that she wouldn't get any ordered tests as we can't afford them. It is true that like so many folks today, we are having some serious money issues. We're having to watch every dime now. I knew it would get to this point. Also, she doesn't have any insurance and won't qualify for medicare for another 15 months. She won't go to the low-cost clinic here as they treated me abominably. The clinic is so short of doctors that it takes forever to get an appt. And lastly, BUT NOT LEAST, she probably wouldn't go if she had $100,000 in the bank. She's just so anti-doctor.
I guess I'm just posting this so I can vent my worry. I have a headache and feel sad...a bit teary actually.
Thanks for listening yet again to my harping.
