Having two operations next week, Anxiety is kicking in

AAAAHHHHHH

The GA wore off half way throw the night and I woke up half way through the night with intense pain in the bum area. I got up and took the pain killers and they have not helped the pain also the wound still seems to be bleeding and all this before I have been to the loo. I think I am going to phone my doctor to see if I can get some stronger pain killers and ask about the bleeding, do you think they will say im overreacting?

Only you know how high your level of pain is, and I would say that anytime there is a concern post-op, it is wise to check-in with your dr.
Do you have someone staying with you for caregiving? If so, have them carefully read over the literature on home care. (this should have been given to you upon discharge) Usually it lists things to expect, and things to call your dr. about.

Ben,

Are you doing the baths as well? The more you can do this, the quicker you will heal.

I don't think it's an over reaction, better to get it checked than infected.

Hang in there, just a few weeks of pain, and then it will all be forgotten.

My heart goes out to you for the next few weeks though, stay strong.

Hi

Day 3 still a lot of pain but my hernia repair is the more painful at the moment. I have still not been to the toilet so expecting some more pain in that area then, I do feel constipated from the pain killers so going to give just paracetamol a go. I have been having sitz baths which have been helping with the pain and bleeding is becoming less but area looking quite swollen. The area around my hernia repair is very bruised which I am surprise about as I was not expecting that?. Thanks for all your support guys much appreciated.
