Ok so my ears started hurting yesterday. I went to the ER when the pain got bad! They said its sinuses. They gave me meds, sent me home. I am supposed to get 2 prescript
ions.. little do they know I am TERRIFIED of meds!!!! Biggest fear I have and it is INTENSE!!!!!
I got some Vitamin C. Gonna take 1000 mgs of that and see if it helps first. My body is so sensitive to meds and vitamins that its helped alot before! Pain never this bad but hopefully it will work!!!! I'll let you know. I also got some yogurt and chicken noodle soup and some chicken broth. Also not letting my fence smoke in the house! Don't need that!!! So I'm hoping all that stuff helps and I don't need the terrifying meds!!!! But just incase I do, has anyone ever taken:
Cephalexin 500 mgs
Lortab Elixir 2.5 mgs
And if so, what was your experience? Things I can look out for and know its normal from hearing it from you guys.
I would give my right arm (seriously) to NOT have this fear of meds and don't have a clue how to overcome the fear!!!!! Has anyone ever had this fear and overcame it completely???? I am so TERRIFIED!!!! Please give me feed back on this if you can and hey, thanks for reading!!
Love to you all!!

Good Morning,
I understand your fear of medication but please know a untreated sinus infection can weaken the immune system. This is because chemicals of the immune system flow in and out of the sinus spaces. When due to the blockage of the sinuses by mucus, this process does not take place smoothly, the immune system weakens.
Cconditions which may arise in a person due to an untreated sinus infectioncan become chronic problems. In a sinus infection which is at an initial stage, the doctor generally prescribes antibiotics for sinus infection.
I have had sinus infections and the treatment benefits were that the cephalexin relieved the sinus infection around the 4th day and by the seventh day my sinuses felt better. The cephalexin seemed relatively mild as I did not experience any intestinal discomfort, bloating or cramping that I have experienced with other antibiotics.
Lortab elixir = Hydrocodone in liquid form. Hydrocodone is in a class of drugs called narcotic analgesics. It relieves pain.
I see you are in panic mode. Stop and take a big breath. I would highly recommend taking the antibiotic and if the pain medication scares you taking OTC meds for pain may be a choice that would not make you feel so anxious about
the medications.
Blessings,
Kitt

Hey, Raynebow, hang in there!
I've gotten pretty scared of meds in the past few years and can definitely get panicked about
them easily. One thing I tell myself is that if I do need to take them but feel afraid, I can always go sit in the ER waiting room and take them there. If anything bad happens, the doctors and nurses are right there to take care of me. I've even announced to them once or twice why I'm there and what I'm doing, so that they'll know it's a reaction to the meds if they do need to step in.
I'm so sorry you're so frightened, and that the klonopin isn't taking any of the edge off.
Big hugs for you, my friend,

Thanks Kitt and Percycat!!! I am feeling better now. I really feel that the vitamin C is working! Well I have had cronic sinus problems most of my life. Always have a dull head ach and often a dull ear ach. My nasal passages just arnt right or something.
Well I'm feeling much better now!! Ate some chicken noodle soup and took the 1000 vitamin C. I promise I will take the antibiotic if I dont feel any better. The only reason I havent yet is bc I used to take those meds before I had the med fear. Cant remember which now except the amoxocillin. And when I took them, it would only help about
2 weeks or so. Then back to sinus problems. I dont want to get immune to antibiotics incase I ever REALLY need one! But if the pain comes back I'll take it I promise!
Kitt knowing that it didnt make you feel bad to take it, that helped so much!!! Thank you for that!!! Thank you both!!
Percycat, its so nice to not feel alone about
fear of meds!!! Thats my biggest one!! I'll definatly remember you when this problem arises with meds!

I'm terribly afraid of inhalers... I was given one for bronchitis recently but had a panic attack at the thought of getting a panic attack and getting dizzy from it.

Good job R.B.! I hope that you can face this fear and beat it back, as I agree with kitt that the antibiotics need to do their job, so that your system can get back to health! Once you are clear of the infection (make sure to check with your dr.) you might want to consider using a neti-pot daily. I use it when I feel ear, or nasal congestion. If you have had trouble with chronic sinus problems, this could possibly help. They can be purchased at the drug store, and are easy to use.
Good luck and good health!
