Ok Im the one that made the "Benzo withdrawal/preg/HELP" post and I thought I'd give you an update bc I'm not sure how often ppl recheck posts to see updates on the same thread?

 I am so upset by how that ER doctor talked to me and didnt even listen!!!! I just got home from there and when I was there I told him that I had been taking 1mg twice a day for a few years. Well he talked and talked and talked about how I shouldnt come off it in just a few days that it should take 2 weeks. Then he said "Instead of trying to come off it all at once, come off a half a mg a week". To make things even worse, when I got my discharge papers they say that I need to come off "over the span of 2 weeks by lowering your dose from 1mg in the am and 1mg in the pm to 1/2 mg in the am and 1/2 mg in the pm for the next five days, then 1/2 mg just in the am for 5 days after that, afterwards, discontinue use."

I NEVER said I was trying to come off it in days!!!!!! I knew it would be weeks!!!!! And I still think that is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY too fast to be coming off!!!!! He gave me a benadryl prescription to help with the extra anxiety. It wont help!!!!!

What am I going to do????

You're right...you shouldn't come off the benzo that fast. Even two weeks is too soon to wean off. Since you've been on the benzo for a couple or more years it could actually take months to wean off. You need to find a doc who understands benzo addiction and benzo withdrawal. Please keep us posted on how you're doing. I hope you find a doc to help you. I care.

Thank you Joni!!! You have no idea how much I need friends right now!!!! I'm going to do everything I can to get a better doctor to help me better!!!! I seen the way you are supposed to wean from klonopin slowly and with the diazepam.

Like several ppl from my other support group told me, the stress and anxiety I'm going through might be worse than the meds for the baby! This is so horrible!!!!!

None of us can say what is too fast and what is too slow. This is a complex issue that should be handled by a doctor who's willing to take the time to help you properly. One issue is your withdrawal. This is complicated by the fact that the fetus should not be exposed to benzodiazepines. And that's complicated by the fact that it is already exposed, and has been for several weeks. I would think an obstetrician would know how to handle it. Benzos are very common and people get pregnant all the time. I wouldn't trust an ER doctor with this matter. Find a way to see a specialist. Either a psychiatrist or an obstetrician.

I have been doing some research on the Benzo withdrawl and it makes more sense for you to lower it .25 at a time over a course of a week and see how you feel that way you will have done it in four weeks at least and def go to a psychiatrist asap in the mean time. They really should do more research on these meds before they hand them out like candy but you need to find a dr you can trust.

Good Morning,

I am going to post the link that helped me but please remember I was not pregnant.  I was on 4 mg of Ativan per day and with my psychiatrist's help I used the following information.  This may not be the best for you so do get to a Dr. somehow.  Perhaps your family will be willing to help you pay to be seen by a physician.  Also check out free clinics for pregnant woman.

Hi

You have had some good advise and the link Kitt posted is worth checking out. I would recommend you see a mental health practitioner who are the specialist and they will be able to give correct advise on this issue. I hope things work out for you and keep us posted.

So is a 4th of a mg considered .25 mgs??
