dizziness caused by???

Hello everybody..I have been feeling pretty well lately ..until today..I felt so dizzy during class that I thought I was going to faint..but recovered soon..I am wondering..since I remembered my first dizzy spell from last year.  I was diagnosed with low blood pressure and then anxiety and then depression.  Well I am currently taking effexor it appears as my depression and anxiety are gone but dizziness is coming back.  Has anybody experience this? This is making me anxious right now.

Hi cln, I am glad that in general you've been feeling better...as for the dizziness, it could be an anxiety symptom, the low b.p., or hyperventilation. You also could have something as simple as eyestrain, an oncoming headache (migraine) or the onset of a virus (ear blockage/infection)

Have your b.p. checked first, as this is the most likely cause. If it is low, isometric and /or mental exercises can temporarily increase it enough to stop the dizzy spell. Try sqeezing the muscles in your hands and arms and holding for 10 seconds. Or try counting from 100 backwards by 3's.

If it is anxiety, or hyperventalation (shallow/over breathing) a common anxiety behavior that you're often not even aware of doing. Try doing your slow, deep breathing exercises. This works for me 99% of the time when I am dizzy.

The other things you will want to check with your doctor about, if the dizziness persists.

Good Afternoon. I am weaning off Effexor XL but I do remember having some dizziness when I first started it.  However the dizziness did go away.

I am wondering how low your BP goes ?  When I was on Cymbalta it caused my BP to be low but I never had the problem with Effexor.  You may want to check with your physician.
