Fear of Meds - hypochondia?

So I was put on a different medication for chronic pain a week ago today. They switched me from hydrocodone to oxycodone. It has been a hell of a scary week. Everytime i take the medication, right before and after im so anxious about how i will feel..what's going to happen. I've been checked out right after taking this medication 4 times this past week right after i've taken it by a dr. and all my vitals are fine. Even five minutes after i take it i start getting anxious. Then when it does take efffect, it makes me feel so loopy, and i get more anxious, and stomach gets upset. This is when i have rushed to E.R. It helps with my pain alot, but it messes with my anxiety so bad. I don't know how long or if your body gets adjusted to this medication. But it's either this or nothing because my pain management dr hates hearing that i have medication anxiety. Surely if something abnormal were going on the 4 different dr's and nurses would have recognised something. So why can't i just get it into my head that the loopiness, the itchyness, the dry mouth is all in my head because if i can't i just don't know what i'll do. Does anyone else have what is apparently irrational medication fear? thanks

Oxycodone is a stronger drug than hydrocodone.  Neither of these meds are antianxiety drugs.  Wondering what other meds you may be on or if you are in therapy to help you deal with your anxiety? 

Pharmacophobia is a fear of the use of pharmacological treatments. If your Dr. has observed you 4 times after taking the medication I would practice some deep breathing after you have taken the med and work on the phobia.
