amitriptyline - drowsiness

My GI doctor has put me on this drug at a low dose (10mg) for my bowel problems.  Started it 2 days ago and have really bad drownsiness and feel really groggy and tired.  Does this wear off after a couple of weeks??  Any experiences of this drug would be uesful to me, thanks!! :-)

I took amitriptyline for awhile, I didn't like it. But I do think that the drowsiness wears off after a couple of weeks. If not, maybe you can take it at night.

Yeah I am taking it at night. Gives me an awful hungover effect the next morning and feel drowsy for most of the day. Hope it goes away!

I do too. I think it will. There are many who swear by this medication. It has been around for a long time. I really hope it works for you.

Hi

I took this medication and did not get on with it the side effects were to bad for me personally gave me a really dry mouth. I do have a friend who took this for a bowel problem and did find it to be helpful. I hope it works well for you.
