Nana,
Have you ever tried meditation? It really helps to calm the mind and body. It might be something that you would want to look into. Taking medication as needed isn't bad. Though I know that you don't want to take it. I take xanax for anxiety and it really helps a lot.
Living in the now really helps with anxiety and taking one day at a time. I know that is easier said than done, but it can be mastered. Keep your mind in the now and concentrate really hard on what you are doing in that moment. Try not to let your mind wander. I take medication for that too. I am an over thinker. My mind could never go blank at one point. But now I have learned to live in the moment, and it is like a weight lifted off of my shoulders. With the meditation and living in the now, I am a much happier person and more peaceful. But I still take medications for it.
I see that you see a therapist. That is wonderful. I hope that she is helping you. Take her advice, put your worries on the shelf for awhile. Give your mind a break. It fatigues us. Litterally, it does. Thinking so much about things depletes us of energy, especially if you are worrying. I have laid in bed all night thinking of things that I had no control over. Now I just forget about it for awhile.
I am sure that there will be others with good suggestions or stories to tell.
Take care,
Hugs, Karen
