Hi all, I've been reading posts here for a bit and decided to officially join today. I've been dealing with anxiety since March. I've always been a "worrier" especially after having my son in 08. In march I was put on a fertility med called clomid. It basically strips you of estrogen. Most ppl do fine with it but it made me feel so awful. I was having hot flashes, rapid hb, light headiness. I thought once the 5 day course was done I would feel better but I'm still struggling at times. I started seeing a therapist and my pcp tried putting me on zoloft but it was so awful I had to stop taking it. I'm trying to go med free nowsince we are trying to conceive again and it seems like I am so sensitive to meds. I started going to yoga too which I love. Some days are ok and some aren't. I get frustrated because I feel like I've been working on "me" but I still don't feel normal :(

Hi Stringbean and welcome! I am glad that you have decided to join us! I hope that you find this a helpful place, full of good information and support.

Keep up the good work through your therapy. If you want to go med free, it can be done, but will take a lot of work and patience.

Also, take a look in our Anxiety Resource guide if you haven't already for some great links to sites that may give you some extra help and ideas on treating the anxiety.

Welcome to HW and good to meet you. This really is a great forum and you will meet people who can relate to what you are going through great to here you are seeing a therapist as that I feel is the best way to learn to cope with your anxiety. Keep us posted.

Hello and welcome to HealingWell. I had a very dear friend on Clomid and I remember her talking about her "anxiety level being so exaggerated and high that she couldn't stand herself, waking up with her heart pounding and just wanting to cry". To the best of my knowledge, Clomid is not without psychological side effects which may included depression and anxiety.Wondering if you OB/GYN physician has talk with you about any of the side effects of the fertility meds ?

It is good to read that you are seeing a therapist and I hope you continue as I have found having that one someone to listen to you and help you work through your problems is a good thing.
