Hello to everyone!
I want to add some more helpful tips and advice to what I have already posted.
Many of you probably already know this, but if you don't or you just need a reminder...here it is.
If your anxiety is kicked up for whatever reason, you really need to watch your caffeine and sugar intake. When I was really struggling I quit drinking anything with caffeine and cut way back on sugar. Both are stimulants and can put your already tense body on high alert which will kick your brain into fight or flight mode.
I will admitt that sense I have changed my behavior and thought patterns, I still use sugar and I do have a coke a day, but again if you are struggling I would cut out caffeine....I know, I know, but you want to get better right...so stop drinking a pot of coffee and wondering why you are spinning out of control!
I will add one more truly important tip on this posting. You need to be nice to yourself. I encourage you to become your own best friend. Have conversations in your head with yourself,,,,,, I mean you can do it outloud if you like but if you're in public, you may worry some people, but if it helps then by all means!
When you make progress, acknowledge it to yourself as if dealing with your best friend. If you make a mistake, don't beat yourself up,,,,you would let your friend know it's ok and it's the same thing you should do with yourself. By doing these things you will develope a methoed that lets you calm yourself during anxiety or panic. Some rely on friends to help but it's better to know that you can do it very well on your own...especially when you are alone and not feeling well.
So, in a nut shell learn to be your own best friend, be nice to you as you would your friend and don't be negative toward yourself...be compasionate and let yourself know you are going to be ok and you are doing fine.....because you are and you will be....til next time
