I am getting married on 11-11-11. I am also going to ATTEMPT to have a bachelorette party with all my girl friends while my fiance is at his bachelor party.

Question is... can I have a drink or 2 at both events while taking Effexor XR? I have not had any alcohol in 3+ years and definetely not sice I've been on Effexor.

I'm not looking to get "drunk", just want to have a good time and relax.

Congratulations!!! I am very happy for you:)

I looked up drinking while using an SNRI, and I got mixed signals...One report said that one occasional drink would be okay, and one said it was not recommended.

I really think the smart thing to do would be to ask your dr. or pharmacist...or stick with 'mocktails'

Congratulations! You know I am on chemotherapy, and it says I shouldnt drink. So you know wht I do when I want a drink... I do this : \-/much alchol and this much juice/soda/ etc \^^^/

Yea you can tell if I drink I do it smart... very little alchol and a ton of the non alchol

I googled the subject too and found similar to what you said. Lots of people say it's ok and they do it all the time, others say NO!!! lol

I will probably "chicken out" anyway and not drink at all, but let's face it, people buy drinks for the bachelorette!!!

Hi

Congratulation I wish you the best for your special day. I used to take Effexor and I did have an occasional drink with no ill effect but the advice is to best avoid alcohol whilst taking antidepressants.
