Extreme phobia. Really need advice.

I will be seeing my intern for the first time on monday. I dont know how to talk about this because in my head it sounds so..Crazy (I'm sorry I dont have a better word to use. Hope I havent offended anyone). I thought that I may have a paranoid problem because I worry sick about everything. My hamsters got ticks and I was panicked because I was scared they were gonna give me rocky mountain/lime sickness I when to the doctor to get antibiotics just in case. I feel people are always trying to hurt me. I think someone from online is gonna show up to my school, hunt me down and shoot me or something. Before all this I use to wake up in the middle of the night, pick up my rats cage and put it outside because I use to think the smell was gonna kill me while I sleep then unplug everything in case of fire and then go back to sleep. I would wake up make sure I didnt lose my ipod and knew where all my stuff was. I dont know how I'm going to tell someone I THINK I slept with someone and have HIV and forgot I did it...I mean I've never had sex in my life. I just dont know how i'm going to explain. Thank you so much for your reply. It has made me feel better about seeing an intern. The hospitals have been so full and no where is available to see me untill like a month. I was doing harm to my body which is why I wanted to see someone so badly.I literately sat in the hospital once because I had nowhere to go. I just sat there one day after school and called a life line three times... I wish things could go back to normal. It's even begun to be hard to concentrate in class. I wanted to bring my GPA up so badly this semester and I cant focus in class. Yesterday I couldnt even get the review notes because I was thinking about this. How can I study for my test then?

I am so glad that you are going to go to your appointment on Monday! This is the first step (as well as reaching out here!) to treating these awful fears/worries and feeling good again!

Your irrational thoughts will start to fade as you get treatment. Not only will you learn tools to combat them, but lowering your anxiety levels in general, will naturally bring them to a halt.

Do not worry about disclosing all that you have here to your therapist. They have studied and learned about all manners of mental health, and the symptoms thereof. What you are experiencing is nothing to be embarrassed about...it is just anxiety gone out of bounds;p The more honest you are, the better help you will receive. (If you are worried about talking outloud of it, print this thread out for the therapist to read, as you feel more comfortable with him/her, then you can open up more easily!)

I do hope that you plan to stay on here:) This is a great place where you can get information, share and be supported/supportive!

Thanks for the replies everyone! I still think it'll be the same if I tell her or print the page out. I dont have a problem expect the bestfriend thing. I'm unsure how to tell her. Perhaps there is some way I can hint it? I'll try to find the courage during the week to find a way to tell her. I guess this could be behind the fact that during these weeks I when to a school counselor to talk about some of this stuff and they just looked and stared at me like they didnt know what to say. Now I avoid them all I can even if it means taking a different route to class. This thread has really made me feel much better and hopeful. Thank you so much =) I'll post an update when I get back and see what she has to say. I'm glad there is somewhere where I can talk about these type of things since there really isnt anyone I can talk to about these things.
