first days on zoloft expiriances

im on day 4 50mg im a little better today i did only take half
are these effects normal
feeling out of it kinda light headed
nausea bad diarrhea
axious and restless
how long till these effects go away and should i take teh ativan with it

Hi ameyers, I am sorry that you are suffering the side effects of your Rx. I don't know if this is typical of the medication and you should keep on, or if you should look for an alternative.

I would consult your doctor, or at least ask the pharmacist about what you should expect to experience.

I would NOT recommend adding in another Rx such as Ativan without the okay from your prescribing doctor.

I hope that you get your med troubles worked out soon. Also consider looking into our Anxiety Resource Guide (main page 3rd post) for some self-help techniques that will really help with your over all stress levels:)

well he prescribed me zoloft and ativan 1mg

If your dr. said it's okay to take them together then go ahead, just make sure you follow the recommended doses and timing.

Ameyers, What you are experiencing are classic Zoloft start up side effects. They will go away in a few weeks, some of them sooner. Take your Ativan, it will really help with the anxiety and restlessness. I take xanax with mine.

Did your doc tell you to just take half? The reason i'm asking is because when you do bump back up to 50 mgs, you will get a new round of side effects, much like the ones you're having now. This happens with dose increases. Just wanted to point that out to you so you don't get "freaked out" when you experience them again. Good luck! Fox

i decided to cut it myself but tomorrow im taking full again

so does zoloft work pretty good once its in your system
basically for the past few days it feels like i have a stomach virus and my heads in the clouds...
im hoping this will go away soon enough...
so i should take teh ativan right with the zoloft?
i made a mistake and took zoloft last night at 9pm and kept me up all night
i like about noon taking it better

I have been on Zoloft, off and on, for about 10 years now. It work extremely well for anxiety/panic disorders. Your side effects will start to go away, but I wouldn't keep messing with the dosage if I were you or you're only going to prolong them. I usually take my xanax about an hour after I take my zoloft, but you can take them both together if you want. Everyone is different with SSRI's, I take mine at night, Zoloft at 9:00 and Xanax at 10:00, and I sleep like a baby. Hope this helps! Fox
