Well, I'm back. The meeting didn't go too bad, but it wasn't good either IMO. I was told that I was going to be granted time off again, without any "occurences".
The one thing I can't believe, is that he actually asked me "how long do you think this condition is going to last, and when will you be better?" I was like, Uhhhhh....."Well sir, i've been dealing with this for 25 years now, it's been "affecting" me for the better part of my life basically. I cannot give you a specific time, my disorders do not just go away. And it's not like I get a warning sign that i'm going to have a panic attack, they just comes out of the blue for no specific reason".
So then he says "Well, you have to understand that if this happens again, we really can't do anything for you. With the winter season coming, it's very hard to get the subs to drive in the snow." I told him that I have to check back in with my doc to be re-evaluated before she will let me come back to work, and that i'll be in touch with my boss about
it.
His reply was "Well, I suggest you do some serious soul searching during your time off, and decide whether you think it's in the best interest of yourself, and the children, if you do come back. There are safety issues that we are dealing with here." I literally felt like reaching across the table and slapping him so hard in his face.
I said "Why do you think I went to Mike (my boss) the day I was driving and had an attack, I WAS thinking of the children's safety! I love my kids and would NEVER put them in any danger. I did not feel comfortable driving, so I went back to the bus garage immediately and told him this. I cannot help the fact that I have been having anxiety and panic attacks again, it's not something I can just "turn off". It's there, and I deal with it the best I can."
You could tell by his demeanor, that he was just being a sarcastic ass! He was trying to make it seem like he was concerned about
me, but I saw right through him. He is trying to cover his own ass! He doesn't and never did care about
the bus drivers. He always treated us like we were "scum".
You know what else really got to me?...My boss was sitting right there and didn't say A WORD! He was asked if he had anything to say, and he just shook his head no. I couldn't believe that he didn't say anything on my behalf, like "She has been one of the best drivers we've had, she never called off of work, showed up every day on time, and was always the one i'd go to when I needed something done that none of the other drivers would do. " NOTHING!!!
So, there it is. LOL! God, give me strength!
