Hi All,

I have been on Zoloft 50mg. now for nine days. I have been up the last two nights with anxiety/ hot flash and then my heart begins to race. It is hard for me to relax again enough to fall back to sleep. I also have been having very strange detailed dreams. Is this normal and if so when will I begin to feel better? I guess what I'm asking is when will this pass?

took zoloft for 7 days and could not handle it
after my expiriance i will never take another medicine like it
i still do take 2 ativan a day

Hi there,

I am just switching from Celexa to Zoloft at a low dose.  I know from the past 6 years of trying many different meds that you have to tough out some of the side effects.  I quit more then one med as the side effects never lessened so I hope you will give the Zoloft a couple of weeks before you throw in the towel. 

Whenever I am doing a med switch I try to clear my calander of any stressful events that may necessitate my being in top form.

Hi

Good to meet you and welcome to HW. I have never taken Zoloft but have taken other ssri's and it does tend to take anywhere between 6-12 weeks before the full benefit can be felt I am not a doctor though so if you have any concerns do consult with them.

I have personally found that the majority of side effects do lesson after a couple of weeks so as Kitt mentioned if you can stick with it. I would also recommend doing some therapy such as CBT as this combined with medication does get in most cases good results with helping people manage their symptoms. I wish you luck and do keep posting.
