I need help. no amount or combo meds is helping my panic. it is becoming impossible to even move at times. any advice?? smhair   any advice would be more then welcome  starlight

Starlight,

I am sorry to hear you are having such a hard time.  If you could give us an introduction to yourself and the problems you have been having ?  I read your second post re Klonopin and ECT  but I am confused as to what your dx is and what kind of therapy and medication you have been on.

ECT from what I understand is used for severe treatment resistant depression. 

If you would like to share a bit more and perhaps post in one thread it will help us in how we respond to your issues.  We are here to help !

Hi starlight and welcome!

Have you tried a combination of medication and therapy? It may sound impossible to even try to do at the moment, but in the long run, this may be what you need in order to cope.

See your doctor and ask for a referral to a therapist who can work with you for treatment of extreme panic disorder. You may benefit from a treatment plan that includes CBT, hypnosis, EMDR, ect...

Many of us here have gone from similar situations to yours, to being able to function again! It may be the hardest step to take, but one that you won't regret.

i have done it all counting cbt, hypnosis,acu, i am just grasping at straws right now. right now i am panicing so bad just typing is freaking me out. sorry if i am not makiing any sense. i have a therapist who i saw ysteday she told me she had to talk to her supervisor because she has never seen someone as bad as me, my last therapiste told me no one could help me after 2 sesions.this therapist has seen me 3 times. i have severe panic disorder and depression.

I am so sorry to hear this, I feel for you! That was a terrible thing for that therapist to say to you, and I am sure that it set you up for a fall. It is hard to get better when your so-called professional help is giving up on you.:(

I believe that everyone can be helped. Have you ever considered in-patient care? Maybe you need the security of being in the hospital where you can be ascessed and treated properly by a medical doctor and psych team.

I would look into what your medical coverage will do for this, and see if it's a possibility for you. We have had a few members who have done some in-patient treatment and found it helpful to jumpstart a new treatment program.

thanks for your kind words, i just got out of the psych ward, it helped for a few days but that is it. i didn't think it was possble for my panic to get any worse but boy was i wrong. anyway it helps to know i am not alone!!! i have never been so scared in my life. when i say i have tried it all i mean i have tried it all. maybe there right and there is nothing anyone can do. by t whe way what is a thrad i am brand new to the web??

A thread is any group of posts. If you start more than one, and they are similar in nature/with the same title...it can be confusing, so it is best to stick to one...or start a new one with a new title/subject.

You are doing fine with the posting. It can be confusing, but it will get easier as you go.

Keep posting with us. I am sorry that things don't seem to be working at the moment, but always keep up hope. I went through therapy and found that I steadily got better after I had stopped treatment. When my therapist said that we were done I responded with "What? no, I am not ready!" but he knew better!

This place has also helped me tremendously. Talking with others who understand is very theraputic. We also have a Resource Guide (main A/P page 3rd post down) that has some great self-help features. Even if you have tried them, try again...you never know when your mind/body and treatment are going to synch and something will 'click'. We have some links to breathing/relaxation exercises as well as on-line therapy (Moodgym) that you can do from home.

Keep posting with us, and I hope that you get some relief soon from your panic. We understand and have been there, you will be allright.
