Hi
Adult separation anxiety disorder occurs when someone becomes nervous and anxious in unfamiliar situations and when he/she is away from friends and family members. The anxiety puts stress on the person's mind and body and causes symptoms to appear as a result of this anxiety and stress.
If this condition goes untreated for a long time, a person may try to cope with the anxiety by engaging in behaviors that are not healthy like not going anywhere by him/her self or simply staying home to avoid anxiety. The more that a person does this, the more it becomes a habit and he is unable to live a normal, healthy life.
As far as I know it is not one of the common anxiety disorders but can be very distressing. I am not a doctor and this info is just some from some research I have done on anxiety disorders. My advise would be to go and see your doctor and see if they can give you something for the anxiety and refer you on to a clinical phycologist for some therapy such as CBT which works well with anxiety disorders (this is just a suggestion).
I hope things improve for you soon and do keep posting to let us know how you are getting on we are here to support you and I am glad you have found us. Take Care
