Head Shocks currently taking Zoloft

Does anyone have head shocks while being on Zoloft and Klonopin?  I have been on 150 mgs of Zoloft for about 8 yrs. Before that, I was taking Prozac for about 13 yrs.  Any suggestions?  Thank you for your help.

I am currently taking Zoloft, and have 3 times in the past also. I never had any "shocks" unless I was weaning off of it, then it was more like the "zaps" everyone always talks about. I don't know if it is the Zoloft or the Klonopin causing this to happen to you.

How long have you been taking the Klonopin? If you started that AFTER you were already taking Zoloft for a while, and didn't have the zaps before then. Then my guess would be the Klonopin.

But I am no doctor, so i'm not sure. I'm sure someone else will come along that has experience with Klonopin and let you know if they've ever experienced this.

Hi Nikkie...both of these drugs can cause brain zaps if you have become tolerant to the dosage you are on.  I would tell your doctor about this and see if he will make a med adjustment.

Thank you for responding, Fox and Donna....I was taking Prozac before all of this and was experiencing the "head shocks" so it may even be both the meds...I have heard of some people experiencing this during the meds but more if they were weaning off, etc. I will check with my doctor, however, in the past I spoke to 2 psychiatrists and they said its mostly when weaning off the meds so I am not sure. This has been happening for over 8 years. I have had chronic neck pain with arthritis so all along I have been thinking it was that but now with some research, I am beginning to wonder. Thanks again for your help.

Hello and welcome to HealingWell.  We are glad to have you onboard.

I am taking Zoloft 50 mg per day and no shocks.  However I do believe I have been on the the majority of the ADs at one time or another over the past 28 years and never had any brain shocks.  A few brain shivers from time to time but nothing alarming. 

I do know how lucky I have been not to experience the shocks. I wish you well.

Thanks, Kitt. I am glad to be here. But somehow I believe its the high dosage of Antidepressants I have been on for so many years and the chronic neck pain I have been having, its so hard to really pin-point it down. It's nice to have friends with anxiety meds to help you through the process.
