SJ,Big breath and remember we all started with our first interview. If I was the interviewer for a daycare center I would look for in a potential employee is something thats slightly dressy and
respectful. Also remember, if you have a bright colored dressy shirt, pick that
one over a beige or plain colored one. That will make you look more "fun" and
upbeat, which is something you will need while working in a childcare center.
One of the most common questions asked in an interview is "Why do you want to work here?" The interviewer is listening for an answer that indicates you've given this some
thought and are not sending out resumes just because there is an opening. Keep your answers direct but but brief. A couple of well phrased sentences can speak volumes.
Another question you will often be asked is, "What are your goals?". Sometimes it's best to talk about short-term and intermediate goals rather than
locking yourself into the distant future.
Your Mum sounds like a wise person so I would listen to her advice as well and find out as much about the requirements of the job before you go to the interview. Good luck and let us know how everything goes for you.
Kindly,
Kitt
