heart or anxiety????

This morning out of the blue I awoke and my heart rate was 130. Usually its 80 and resting 65-70. I was so dizzy I could not get off the pillow. I had my daughter and grandkids and I could not attend to any of them for about 2 hrs. They were all sleeping in my room so they got on nckjr.com and were fine for awhile. I have a history of anxiety attacks, panic and depression. I just had a work up up blood, heart, etc. All is fine. However since then (a month ago) some more unneeded stress has occurred. a few serious things and i have had daily headaches and worry.
After one klonopin, and one xanax it slowly began to subside.
Has anyone had this and foundout it was NOT the heart? but anxiety?
I AM calling my dr tomorrow to go for a follow up so I know for SURE!

I am sorry to hear that you had this scary experience.:( I have also woken up to panic on several occasions...just the other night in fact.

I had an especially emotional day, and woke about an hour after falling asleep with a pounding heart, hot flashes, worried mind, ect.

I was able to get myself calmed down, but it is always disturbing at first to wake up in that state!

Do follow up with your doctor to be on the safe side...but it sounds like you may just want to increase your stress coping mechanisms to deal with your anxiety. We have some great self-help ideas in our Anxiety-Panic Resources (main page, 2nd post)
