Hi Bronco and welcome!
I am sorry to hear of your health concerns, and the emotional trouble that they have brought on.
We have had many members who have anxiety as a result of an illness, surgery or other chronic health condition.
As someone who has health anxiety and it phobic of medical procedures myself, I really symptathize with your situation...and must say that I consider you extememly brave and heroic for what you have already overcome.
As far as your question...I think that I would pursue the therapy...with or without your doctor's referral. If you can get him to give you a recommendation, then great. If not, I would go ahead and look into it on your own if possible. It will really help you in conjunction with your medication to deal with the anxiety and fears that are facing.
You deserve to feel well both body and mind. Anxiety can rob us of the good times and experiences in life. Therapy (CBT in particular) can help us to deal with the worries that keep us from doing the things that we want and need to do.
Please know that it does help to talk to others who know what you are going through, so keep posting...we are here to listen anytime.:)
