Anxiety & Hair Loss

Hi there, Hibee!  I saw you post and I have to say that yes, stress can cause hair loss.  Your doctor can also order some blood tests to check your levels of iron and hormones.  Low iron can cause loss and so might a high level of testosterone.  Then, it could also be meds, so check out those side effects as well as certain skin conditions, which a dermatologist would need to examine.  I ended up at a dermatologist because of hair loss due to hair dye but we went through all these causes before narrowing it down.  When I take my cat to the vet for her shots and check-up, she sheds tons of fur and the vet says it's because she's stressed, so it's not uncommon.  I hope you can resolve this.  Good luck!

I agree with Lanie and from reading the side effects of many of the meds I have been on over the years - hair loss often pops up as a possible side effect. 

From what I know, stress can play a role in diffuse hair loss. Stress-induced loss ordinarily regrows within a year of eliminating the cause. The amount of hair lost can depend on the severity of the stress.

 

I encourage you to follow through with your Dr. re getting those blood tests done, my friend.
