Are you adverse to telling the company up front that you take the Xanax as prescribed medication? That is a totally different deal than failing a drug test because of street drugs, or taking medication that is not prescibed to you.

I think being honest about your Rx is the safe and smart thing to do in this case...others may have some experience/opinion with this as well, so read what they have to say...but ultimately the decision is yours.

So, FYI, I told my HR manager today (thanks, Scaredycat), and it turns out that I didn't even show up dirty in the drug screen. She said I probably didn't have enough in my system (as mentioned in previous posts, I don't take my Xanax that much).

What she did tell me, which will be helpful to a lot of you out there, is that when drug tests DO come back dirty, she always thinks right away that you are probably on a medication, and then all you have to do is provide proof to the drug screening company. I was really happy to hear that HR was so open to people who have differences.

So, I'm in the clear...worried for nothing...and it kinda seems like others don't have to worry, as long as you are responsible with carrying your Rx's the right way and being up front with your manager!
