Unwanted side effect

I am certainly not trying to second guess your doctor (I am in no way qualified to!), but I happened across this while checking out possible side effects of Epilim...and wonder if it has anything to do with your problem.

Drug Interactions for Epilim

There are some medications that produce unwanted side effects when used in conjunction with Epilim. For instance, the combination of Epilim and antipsychotic drug Olanzapine causes decreased liver functioning in some patients. Because sodium valproate often causes drowsiness, you should not combine Epilim with other drugs that make you sleepy like narcotics, sedatives and anti-anxiety medications. When combined with blood thinners like warfarin, Epilim increases your risk of experiencing uncontrollable bleeding during surgery or following an injury.

I would just ask your doctor about this problem, and if it is a deal breaker for you, then discussing alternatives would be a good idea.

Just getting to your thread now.  Nice to meet you, I am Kitt.  From what I understand, there are a number of sexual side effects that may develop with the use of Effexor XR, and impotence is among the most common.

I understand why you want to stay on the Effexor if it is working for you and many of the drugs in the same category have similiar side effects.  Perhaps your Dr. may want to add a med to help you deal with the ED instead of switching your other meds.
