Good morning to all, hoping that everyone has a great day so far. Well on Tuesday i had my doctors appointment and I was super nervous about that. I was nervous because I thought that I lost tons of weight and I will be weighed and it was not a pretty sight. ( I do not like being skinny, because I am) So I got to the doctor and when I was called in my anxiety went sky high. I was weighed and yes I gained weight (127) was (119) before and I am excited about that.
Next came the results that I was dreading and everything came back fine. This put my mind at ease. Now time comes to change my medication from amitriplyline to zoloft. I used zoloft before but the gyn gave me 50 to start with and I was bouncing off the wall, so i decided not to use it but it cleared my mind. So the doc gave me 25mg of zoloft to start with and she said if you want to go one step higher that is fine.
Day 1 of zoloft- got up fine, had lots of energy but my sleep was shortened.
Day 2 of Zoloft- side effects started kicking it.


But what got me a bit scared I was not done with the amitriplyline but she told me switch to zoloft on Tuesday night. Has anyone switched between meds a day apart?

Yes I switched meds from one to the other without problems.  I have to ask why you are switching from amitriplyline to Zoloft ? 

Congrats on the weight gain and keep it up.  Getting on to one of the SSRI meds usually comes with some side effects but be patient knowing that you may have some rough days before things get better. 

Allow yourself time to just adjust to the med and don't set to many expectations on yourself the next couple of weeks.

Thanks Stkitts, amitriplilyne just did not work for me. I was groggy every day, dizzy, tired even though I take it at 6 p.m. I could not get out my bed at all. I could tell you that I slept well on it long hours nad no pain really but apart from that I could not tolerate it at all.
But zoloft works well and I like it I am just trying to take get past the new side effects.

Teeram, I know how you feel. I was on Zoloft 3 times in the past, and I just went back on it in October. The start up side effects are the pits. Did your doc give you anything to help counter them, like xanax, klonopin, ativan, etc....? It is really helpful to have a "crutch" when first starting out on ANY ssri.

Good luck with your journey back on to zoloft. It gets worse before it gets better for some, but I hope you have a smooth transition.

It is wild how each of us get different results from the meds !  I was on Nortriptyline ( sister drug to amitriptyline ) for many years and it was the best AD I was ever on but for some reasons it pooped out.  Zoloft was not a good drug for me and my Pdoc kept increasing the dose but I got worse.  Finally after 5 months of trying it we switch yet again.

I hope you have great luck with Zoloft and that it works well for you like it does for so many others.
