changing dosage

I have been taking zoloft for about one week and my doctors just uped my dosage from 25mg once in the morning and once at night to 50mg in the morning to 25 mgs at night.. will the zoloft make me have more energy? i have no side effects from the 25mgs only that i stay up later and sometimes cant sleep when i try to... my doctor also said once i start the new dosage that my anxiety will begin to decrease and ill notice it more, is this true???

Hi

Good to meet you and welcome to the forum. I have never taken Zoloft but have taken other ssri's and changes in dosage can take time to get used to and any side effects usually decrease once you get used to the medication but keep in close contact with your doctor.

Antidepressants will only help with the symptoms of anxiety/depression so always good to do some kind of therapy along side the medication to get the best results.

even with the increase i dont get any side effects, but will it eventually work?

It is great that you are not having side effects! As to when you will see an improvement, it's hard to say since everyone reacts differently.

Typically though, SSRI's can take up to six weeks to build and level off in the system, so you may need some patience for the next few weeks while you adjust to this med.
