Hi and welcome!
I am sorry that you are dealing with anxiety and its effects to such a degree at the moment.:(
Family stress is certainly up there as far as what can be a catalyst for anxiety. Tension between my husband and our oldest daughter (his step daughter) several years ago is what sparked my first panic attack...and the rest as they say is history...
Now whenever there is tension between my family members, it is an extreme trigger for me!
To answer your question, yes therapy can absolutely help with the issues that you are facing! I was relieved of daily panic attacks with CBT, and I now have the tools to manage my anxiety pretty well.:)
Ask your doctor for a referral to someone that you can see to help you through this rough time.
Until then, we have some excellent self-help ideas in our Resource Guide (main page, 1st post) that you could check our right away. The relaxation and breathing exercises if practiced daily will really help you!
As far as the phobia of taking meds...there is an excellent site that I will look up for you, explaining this fear...it is fairly common, so know that you are not alone...I will look it up and post it for you. You could also do a search here, looking up fear of taking medication...and you should find lots of posts to read on the subject.
Keep posting with us...we are here to listen and support.:)
