Hi sda44t,
I completely understand where you are right now. Unfortunately I been there more times than I have wanted. I don't know much about
Paxil but I am on Zoloft and my doctor gave me Xanax to take until the Zoloft kicked in.....which for me was about
4 weeks and by 7 weeks I was doing very well.
If taking the Paxil is causing you to become more anxious talk to your doctor and review other meds with him which you could take instead. Everyone responds differently to meds and therefore my comments concerning Zoloft are strictly from my experience. I have had for the most part a very positive tenure taking Zoloft. I did have side effects but most were very mild. The two which cause me the most issues were the first two weeks my anxiety level went through the roof (weird I know) and nausea. It wasn't debilitating by any means but I just didn't have an appetite and when I forced myself to eat that's when I would get nauseous. To counter act that I started drinking Ensure so I was able to get some nutrients. After about
three weeks that went away as well and now I don't have any problems taking it. The best part is NO weight gain, at least for me! :)
So if the anxiety is stressed induced you should probably be looking at a way to eliminate that stress or use therapy to help deal with it. That's what I did. My therapy was amazing....it did wonders. I still go once every other month just to keep myself centered. I would highly recommend it.
BTW....this s a great group! keep posting, it will help you.
Be well!
